Song of the chapter/  In my veins by Andrew Belle.

It had been a week since the kiss fiasco with Asher had happened, and Dianna had never felt so helpless before. She had tried to talk with him several times, but it seemed like Asher made a vow to himself to never see her, let alone have a decent conversation with her. Not a word had been said to Dianna by Asher.

And, with each passing day, Asher seemed to have increased the distance between them, and Dianna couldn't be sure if it's because he felt guilty for kissing her or if the reason was something different entirely.

Throughout the week Dianna left no chance to have a simple conversation with Asher, but all her attempts went futile in front of him. And, there is only so much a girl can do after all. Even tonight, she tried every means possible to get to Asher, but somehow he managed to escape. After the third attempt, she had almost given up when Ms. Lindale presented her the perfect opportunity.

The infamous and much awaited annual festive starts tomorrow for exact seven days—seven days of fun and enjoyment—seven chances to create the most beautiful memories of life— and Ms. Lindale gave the responsibility for the final checking to Asher and Dianna. There's no doubt that Dianna's elated to hear the news whereas the same thing cannot be said for Asher. And, if looking at his frown is any indication, then it's crystal clear that he is anything but thrilled to have to spend some time with her.

Dianna sends a grateful smile to Ms. Lindale which the poor lady returns discreetly, and leaves them to work. Dianna makes a move to talk but before she can even get a word out, Asher beats her to it.

"I will check with the lights and the sound system." Asher mutters quickly, and escapes as if he knew if he'd stay a bit longer, he won't be able to escape the questions he's been escaping until now.

"Asher!" she goes after him only to be enveloped by a warm hug, stopping her from following him.

                "Dianna!"

It takes a moment but Dianna finally recognizes the familiar arm around her. "Meredith! Oh, my god! Meredith, is it really you?" Dianna screams, her eyes filling up with tears on seeing her best friend in front of her eyes. Since, the small kiss she shared with Asher, she's been longing to talk to her, because there was only her she knew would understand her better than anyone else, and now that she's finally before her, she cannot stop the tears.

"Yeah, it's me." Meredith cries. "I missed you so much."

"I am so happy to see you. I can't even describe."

"Do you really think I will leave you alone to deal with the situation that you're in right now? What kind of best friend will that make me if I let you go through with this alone?" Meredith smiles, and wipes the tears from her face.

"Excuse me, what situation?" A new voice interrupts, and Dianna lets out a strangled groan, her head starts hurting at the mere sound of the voice, and she looks at Meredith with a look of pure irritation.

"Really, Meredith? Really? Him, of all people, you'd have brought with you—you chose to bring him?" Dianna hisses, while keeping her eyes at the boy who's now looking at her with a broad but flirtatious smile, completely ignoring the hostile look she's sending his way.
