Feather opened her eyes to have golden fur in her face. Blinking the soft fur away, Feather rolled over, and realized she was sleeping next to Lion's belly, on the side of the Cave of Rushing Water.
"You're awake?" Lion asked.
Feather easily sat up, her leg feeling better than ever. "Yes." She mewed, letting out a yawn. "My leg feels so much better too!"
"That's good." Lion meowed. "Do you think you can walk on it now?"
Feather shrugged. "I don't know, let's see."
As the small she-cat slowly got up, she kept her injured leg off the ground.
"Try to put your weight on it now." Lion meowed as he padded closer to Feather.
Feather put it down, and a small ache was the only consequence. Looking up from her leg, she nodded at Lion. "I can walk!"
"That's great!" Lion purred as he stood next to the she-cat.
"Can we go see Rain?" Feather asked, beginning to walk towards the nursery. The black and white she-cat was forced to already sleep in there by Leaf, who was worried about his mate. The light brown tom went on almost every hunting patrol to catch prey for her.
Lion nodded. "Of course."
As the two cats padded into the nursery cave, she saw five kits, Reed, Owl, Bird, Pond, and Sparrow all play fighting.
Sky was sleeping next to Frost, who was washing her ruffled white, sleeping pelt.
Seed and Flower watched their kits while Leaf was prodding a large piece of rabbit towards her.
"Greetings, Lion, Feather." Flower mewed.
"Lion!" Pond squealed and raced towards her older brother. "Can you teach us some of your battle moves?"
"Well since you're both going to be Cave Guards, why not?" Lion meowed as he led the two kits to the other side of the nursery.
"What about us?" Owl called from pinning Bird down.
Lion looked back. "Only Owl, because he'll also be a Cave Guard."
Immediately Owl jumped off of Bird, and raced towards Sparrow and Pond.
"Awwww!" Feather heard Reed and Bird sigh.
Feather looked at her other two younger siblings. "How about I teach you some hunting moves after I finish visiting Rain, Leaf, and Seed?"
"Okay!" Reed mewed. Both kits lit up almost at once.
Flower looked to Seed. "I'll watch them while you chat."
Seed dipped her head. "Thank you." Padding over to Rain and Leaf with Feather, the two she-cats sat down.
"Come on, I caught it just for you." Leaf murmured to his mate.
"I told you, save it for the others!" Rain mewed.
Feather grabbed the piece of meat, and set it down in front of Rain. "There's plenty to go around."
Seed nodded. "That's right."
"Come on, just eat it. For you and our kits." Leaf meowed.
Rain nodded at the thought of her and Leaf's kits. "Fine. But only for the kits." She said as she took a bite of the soft flesh.
"So, I see your leg is looking better." Seed mewed to her daughter.
Feather nodded. "I'm so glad it's better! I can walk on it now, which means I can go hunting again!"
