Chapter 4

Italics: thoughts

Normal POV

After a days rest, Kakashi could at least walk around. He decided that it would be a good opportunity to train his team. Early in the morning he asked them to gather in the forest behind Tazuna's house. Once all three of his students were there, he began to explain how to climb a tree without the use of hands. Giving them kunai, he stood off to the side to watch their progress.

Naruto already knew how to do this, so she climbed up to the sturdiest branch and fell asleep.

Sakura was half way there and look down at Sasuke for approval.

"Look Sasuke-kun I'm almost to the top!!" She exclaimed, trying to impress him. Though all she received was a glare.

Sasuke was having a hard time getting up the tree and did not like the fact that Sakura was already almost to the top. He was getting frustrated, so he looked up and immediately calmed down. His motivation was up on a tree branch, his goal to reach her.

It was already the afternoon and Sasuke was still only about halfway there. Kakashi and Sakura had gone with Tazuna to help with the bridge. Naruto had woken up by then, and saw Sasuke struggling. She jumped down from her position on the tree to the ground.

"Sasuke," she called,"do you need help?"

Sasuke look over at her in surprise.

'She's wiling to help me' he thought.

"S..s..sure I guess" he said in slight embarrassment.

"OK then close your eyes" Naruto began and Sasuke complied, "visualize your chakra inside your body. Then push that chakra into a steady flow to your feet, open your eyes and try walking"

Sasuke went over to the tree and began to climb up, he made it to the branch Naruto was previously sleeping on. He then climbed back down to where Naruto was. When he saw her he couldn't help but blush, she was giving him a smile, small but it was there. It wasn't until then that Sasuke fell forward out of exhaustion.

She set him down in a clearing and sat down next to him. Before she knew it, she had fallen asleep again.

When she opened her eyes she saw a boy about her age, he was reaching towards her but retracted his hand. He began to talk, asking her if she had anyone precious. She answered vaguely and quietly, helping him pick herbs and bidding him farewell.

It was about time they went back to the house, so she went to shake Sasuke awake.

"Sasuke wake up" she quietly said though he didn't wake up. She headbutted him and he woke with a jolt. They both wore their headbands so the clashing of metal was heard. He looked at her in surprise.

"You wouldn't get up," she said plainly, "It's late we should get back." When they returned it was time for dinner. Sakura was glaring daggers at Naruto for spending most of the day alone with Sasuke. They began to eat, and the silence was interrupted by Tazuna's grandson Inari.

"You're gonna die there's no point" he began. It left silence in the room. Naruto by then had finished her meal and was headed to bed.

"I don't exactly care if I die, I know a lot of people would be happy if I did" with that she continued on her way.
