Every part of my body tensed up, freezing when I saw Zac at the door & knew Nick was standing a few feet away. Nick wasn't in Zac's sight at first, so Zac spoke. "I didn't hear from you last night when you said you'd call me & I've been calling you & you weren't answering & hadn't called me back so I got worried." Zac said, taking a step toward the door. I moved my body to block him from coming in & he scowled at me. "I wanted to make sure you were okay." His eyes went over my shoulder & I knew by the expression on his face that Nick must have come into his view.
"Zac..." I managed to find my voice, but it was shaky, at best. "I'm sorry...A lot happened, yesterday."
Zac stared at Nick, his expression almost horrified. "I can see that. What the hell is going on?" He stuttered.
"Zac, come in, please. I don't want the entire neighborhood watching this." I said, opening the door & letting Zac come in. I turned to look at Nick, who was still shirtless, but now his jaw was flexing & I knew he was trying to stay calm. I closed the door & stood in the middle of Zac & Nick as they had a stare down. "Yes, I'm sure you recognize my husband. He's alive. He came back yesterday."
"How the hell did that happen? And why isn't it all over the news, like the presidents being alive?" Zac asked, glaring at Nick like he had done something wrong.
"It really isn't any of your business, Zac." Nick snarled, walking toward Zac, with his chest puffed.
Zac puffed his chest out, as well & I panicked. I put my arms out, one hand palm side up, toward each of them, as I stood in the middle. "Nick, please. Zac, I can explain, but I need you to promise you won't go to the newspaper & tell them what is going on." I said, my voice quivering a little.
"I wouldn't do that, Demi." Zac looked at me & his expression softened, which didn't sit well with Nick.
Nick lunged forward & got in Zac's face, with me in the middle of them. "You should go. You interrupted our physical reunion, Zac. I would love to get back to my wife, if you don't mind."

"I was worried about her. I didn't realize I would be interrupting anything." Zac said, his jaw tense as he looked Nick dead in the eye, almost in a threatening way.
"You don't need to worry about her anymore. So you can stop preying on my wife, because she's no longer a poor, grieving widow. I'm back & I have no plans on going anywhere again."
"Preying on her? What the hell does that mean? I wasn't preying on her."
"Guys, please." I said, putting one hand on each of their chests.
"You were moving in on her. Don't even pretend you weren't. That's what I consider preying on her. I wouldn't be surprised if the article was an excuse to get close to her. Maybe that's your M.O. But in any case, you need to get the hell out of here, before I kick your ass." Nick spit the words out & I moved to face Nick.
