Feeling

When Nick left during my 37th week, it was in the evening, so I didn't go with him to the airport. I was exhausted & had to pack some things since I was going to stay with Denny & Lydia while he was gone. I tried hard not to cry when he left, but I failed, miserably. He swore it was only for a few days, but that didn't matter to me. I was sitting in bed, with the sheet covering me, since Nick & I had just took a shower together. We made love while we showered, too, since standing up was a better position now that I was so huge. I got emotional, because I couldn't help but wonder if this was the last time we'd make love, while I was pregnant. This could be the last time we made love for a few months, honestly.

Nick was getting dressed as I sat in bed, trying to avoid looking at him. I knew I'd burst into tears if I locked eyes with him. I still had this feeling that something bad was going to happen & it was making me more emotional than normal. I didn't tell Nick, but he could tell something was bothering me. I should have known I couldn't hide it for long, since he knew me better than anyone. As I looked down, holding the sheet, I heard him sigh.

"You've been acting weird the last few days. It seems more than just being upset that I'm leaving again. What's wrong?" Nick asked, sounding annoyed.

I bit my lip, still looking down, then inhaled, slowly. I cleared my throat before I looked up, but I didn't look directly at Nick's face. "Ever since you said you had to leave, I've had this feeling. It's a weird feeling like something bad is going to happen."

"Nothing bad is going to happen, Demi. You're just emotional & paranoid. I think you're letting bad dreams get inside your conscious mind."

I looked at his face & narrowed my eyes. My expression made him do a double take & he looked a little frightened. "I've had bad feelings before & something has happened."

"Like when?" Nick said, trying not to laugh.

My mouth gaped a little, as I tried to think of an example. "Uh... I can't remember anything specific now. But trust me... it's happened."

"Okay... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to undermine your premonition. I will be careful when I'm teaching this class. I will try not to poke my eye out with a pointing stick or get a paper cut when I'm passing out tests."

I rolled my eyes & clicked my tongue. "Go ahead. Make fun."

Nick let out a laugh, then leaned down, on the bed, so our faces were closer. He batted his lashes, making my heart skip a beat, since his puppy dog eyes got me every time. "I'm sorry." He leaned to kiss me, then he gasped. "I forgot to tell you." He said as he stood up. "I'm going to be on TV."
