Aphmau's POV:

"Hey!" Someone called out from behind me. It was lunch but I was still at my locker. Emmalyn, Kenmur and Jin were still working on the project for the Science fair. Vlyad said he needed to show his brother around and Travis had to meet up with Dante, who he was apparently good friends with. They were the only people who really talked to me so of course I didn't think that someone was calling out to me. Turns out, I was wrong. "You in the purple cloak! Jen-no, JESS! That's it!" Having called out my name I turned around and saw the powder-blue-haired girl. It was the one, the only; Katelyn the firefist. How did I know she was a firefist? Simple, she was also in combat class with me and Max. I can tell you this, there's a reason she's a firefist, and it ain't pretty.

"Um. Hi Katelyn.." I wondered why she came up to me. None of the nice popular girls ever came up to me. At least, not as Jess.

"You know me?" She looked surprise. I nodded.

"Combat class."

"Oh, right. Anyway, I saw how you took down that new Werewolf kid. Although you may not look it, you're a fighter. With lip too." She smirked.(A/N: If you didn't know 'lip' can mean boldness and stuff like that.)

"Sassmau." I mumbled under my breath and silently laughed. That was a nickname which had stuck around since I was younger. It brought back fond memories.

"What was that?" Katelyn raised her eyebrow. I realized I had said that out loud and quickly covered it up.

"I said, 'sounds like me'" I said as casually as possible. Believe it or not, I was actually surprisingly good at acting. It came in handy during situations like these, mission or not.

"Okay then. Well, the reason I came up to you is because you're the perfect person to help me with this."

"With what?"

"You saw the new kids this morning, right? You already met Balto and from what I saw in the hallway, you know Alexis. The other two are Zane, the emo and Garroth's younger brother, and Michi, the Meif'wa. Speaking of which, there's something fishy about her.." She trailed off.

"Like what exactly?" I leaned against the lockers and closed my eyes, having a feeling that I was gonna be there a while.

"I saw Michi talking to Gene this morning during my free period. I think she's up to something." At the mention of Gene I straightened up and my eyes shot open.

"Gene?" My usual calm voice was now eagerness. Could Michi be the fifth shadow knight?

"Yep. You've met Gene, so you should know by now that this is anything but good. I don't trust that cat for a second. But everyone is telling me that it's nothing and I'm just wary of new people. I've seen you around and you seem like the kind of person who would be willing to help me with this. So if you wouldn't mind, could you-"

"Done." I said, growing even more excited by the second.

"Wa-really? I didn't even tell you the plan."

"Like you said, talking to Gene in secret doesn't exactly give off a good first impression. Besides, I'm not too sure about those new kids either. They're all kinda shifty in my book. Except for Alexis, of course. She's as genuine as Emmalyn." I shrugged.

"How can you tell?"

"She just gives me that kind of vibe. Sometimes you gotta go with your gut, Y'know?"

"FINALLY! Someone other than Nicole agrees with me. Now, come with me and I'll tell you the plan." Katelyn gestured me to follow her and I did, all the way to the soccer fields.
