46. Family

[Willow]

After leaving Tove, we ran onto the jet. Steve ran to the helm and got the engine running. As we took off, we saw Tony and Rhodey behind us. Steve tried to speed up, but they were catching up. As I looked again, I saw Sam behind them, trying to take down Rhodey. Then Vision tried to shoot a blast at Sam, but it hit Rhodey instead. I screamed as Rhodey fell, Tony following him.

"Willa, calm down." Bucky soothed me.

"No, I wont! Rhodey might be dead!" I said, pacing around in agitation.

"Listen. We've committed to this now. No turning back." Bucky said, pulling me in for a hug.

"I know." I sighed. "You'd never lie to me, would you Bucky?" I asked him.

He shook his head. "Never."

I smiled, letting go of him and taking a seat. Bucky also sat down.

We sat in silence for a few hours, just everyone dwelling on their own thoughts. I was lying down on a bench, my eyes closed but not sleeping. Then Bucky spoke up.

"What's going to happen to your friends?" HE asked, still looking down.

Cap paused for a few moments. "Whatever it is, I'll deal with it."

I could hear Bucky turning to look at me, before carrying on. I think he thought I was asleep. "Don't tell Willow I said this, but I don't know if I'm worth all this Steve."

I kept my eyes closed. Obviously he wouldn't say this if he though I was awake.

"What you did all those years, it wasn't you." Steve answered. "You didn't have a choice."

"I know." More silence. "But I did it."

Cap didn't answer. The ship went back into silence. A few minutes later, I sat up and felt my phone vibrate. I looked at the caller ID. Tony. I ignored it. I didn't need to speak to him.

I excused myself from the room and picked up the phone. I dialled a number in and waited.

"Hello, Agent Ash. Who's speaking?" I heard Tove say.

"Hey. It's me. I need to talk." I said, walking out of earshot of Bucky and Steve.

"Willow!" Tove cried. I heard a clang and Tove whispered. "Shit. You made me spill my tea."

I chuckled. "Only you British."

"What do you want." Tove said, annoyed although I could hear her smile.

I sighed, preparing myself for what I was about to say. "I'm scared Tove. I'm really scared."

"It'll be fine Willow. You're the strongest person I know. I believe in you." Tove reassured me, her voice going softer.

"It's not me I'm worried about. It's Bucky." I said. "He thought I was sleeping earlier and told Steve he didn't think he was worth all this."

Tove laughed. "Willow. Just think. What's the worst he could do? Run away again? Who did he take with him last time? It'll be fine."

I smiled. "Thanks Tove. It means a lot."

"I just wanted to let you know. Tony's locked them all up. Clint. Wanda. Sam. Scott."

"What?" I exclaimed. "How dare he!"

Tove sighed. "They'll be fine. Just... Just come back in one piece."

"I will." I said, although I couldn't be sure.

"Goodbye freak." Tove laughed.

"Goodbye nerd." I replied, hanging up the phone.
