Chapter 31. Mamahalin
"What are you looking at?" Napaligon ako sa nagsalita bigla sa tabi ko. I didn't notice Trey's presence not until he spoke.
"Isn't it obvious enough?" I rolled my eyes on him and he just chuckle.
Matapos ang kadramahan niya nitong mga nakaraang araw ay bumalik nanaman siya sa pang iinis saakin araw araw. Everyday, I woke up with my phone flooded by his texts and missed calls. Madalas kapag nag iisa ako ay bigla nalang siyang susulpot out of nowhere para manggulo.
"I will really give you a big garden." He said dreamingly.
Nagkibit balikat ako at patuloy na pinagmasdan ang mga sumasayaw na bulaklak sa indayog ng hangin.
"You always said that but where is it now?"
"Will you marry now then?"
Nanlaki ang mata ko at agad siyang hinampas sa braso. He just gave me a half-amuse half-jokingly smile pagkatapos ay hindi na napigilan ang sarili sa paghalakhak. This guy is really...argh!
"Bakit? Ang sabi ko sayo bibigyan lang kita ng garden kapag nasa bahay ko na kita at kapag kasal ka na sakin." He flashed his infamous smirk like he has some villain idea in his head.
"Why do you always love this?" Tanong niya saakin. Hindi ko siya nilingon at nanatili ang tingin ko sa mga bulaklak.
I'm starting to love the comfortable silence between us. The fascinating music of the wind singing in my ear.
"Love what?" I ask him.
"Silence." He answered so shortly.
Hindi ako nakasagot agad. Simply because Dad told me to.
Love silence and it will love me back. It will save me.
Dala ko yon hanggang ngayon. A certain memory of my great father that still lingers on my mind. His sweet voice that I miss. Pero sa mga taong lumipas, unti unting nawala saakin na paalala o isang utos iyon sa akin. It became the source of my calmness.
"I just did. It's beautiful." I said.
"You can't have it always." He said with a low tone voice.
"I will find it." I said with a weary tone of voice. "—always." And it turns out to be a whisper.
"How can you find silence in the middle of chaos?" He asked with a serious tone of voice I can't recognized.
A long strike of silence cross between us. Nagpakawala ako ng malalim na buntong hininga at humarap sa kanya. He stared at me back as soon as he notice me staring to him.
Millions of emotions flowed in my veins for only staring at his eyes. The feelings filled my system but neither of those can win against the warm and safeness I felt the moment I got lost in his eyes.
It's hard to find silence but it's easy to look for peace. I just found it right in his eyes. A safehaven.
Pinutol ko ang pagtitinginan namin at tumayo para umalis.
"Saan ka pupunta?" Tanong niya at tumayo din.
"Lalabas muna. 2 hours ang vacant ko." Saad ko at nagkibit balikat bago nagsimulang maglakad. Usually I'll spend my vacant time on the library but I don't do like it today.
"Tara!" Rinig kong saad niya at mabilis na pumatay saakin ng paglalakad.
"May klase ka." Singhal ko sa kanya pero sinuklian niya lang ako ng tingin na 'seryoso ka?'
