'SIMENEON BEHIND YOU!!!' The voice sounded in her head, almost as if it were an echo in her mind.
"Fin?" She said in a whisper. Looking around desperately she had no idea where the voice came from.
It was then the hairs on the back of her neck began to prickle.
Simeneon knowing that feeling ever so well turned on the spot and readied herself for the worse, and the worse is what she got.
Large portals began opening before her and streams of electrical energy shot forth filling the small encampment with the harsh smell of ozone. It would be mere seconds before the minions would pour out with a vengeance and be in their path would not be the right location. She ran to Giles, grabbed him by the arm and pulled.
"This is not a good place to be at the moment!" She yelled then let go of his arm and took off along the path.
"Where are we going?" Giles asked as he almost slipped rounding the path near Simeneon.
"We have to move our plans ahead a few hours!" She said before running into her hut.
Giles stood shocked outside the hut trying to come up with the words that eluded him. He finally had to shake his head and rush in after her.
Simeneon was piling clothes and other assorted objects into the pockets of her backpack.
"We can't possibly leave now, as you can see it's dark out!" He said with an exasperated gasp.
Simeneon shot around to face him, "Do you really believe that when those minions start coming through the portals they're gonna stop at just the natives. Take a look around you everyone is leaving. They know when to get out and when to stay. If we don't leave in the next few minutes we'll be at the mercy of those monsters! Now I suggest you get your things, leave what you can't carry in a hurry and be out front in one minute."
Hw was stunned but soon saw the way she looked at him and thought better of arguing.
"Have you seen Macnish?" He asked.
"Check the area under his bed." She snapped then went back to packing her bag.
Giles ran from the hut and into the one beside, quickly he began stuffing things into his backpack when the small curtain over the door burst open and in stepped Macnish.
"What's going on?" The elderly man asked.
"Get you stuff together we're getting out of here now!" Giles snapped.
"Poppycock, it's night time, we're not going anywhere until first light." Macnish laughed.
"Please get your stuff," Giles growled.
"-And who are you to order me around?" Macnish asked as he crossed his arms over his chest.
Giles felt something deep down inside of him snap; he turned quickly to face Macnish and gave him a look that would stop a truck. Macnish saw that look and didn't feel as strong anymore.
"You will go and get your gear together and be out front of the hut in one minute. This is not a request but an order." He said stiff-lipped.
Macnish was out the door in a flash and was standing with Simeneon even before Giles stepped from his own hut.
The smell of ozone was stronger now and the area where the portals were opening were now a blaze of color and angry voices.
"We have to leave now!" Simeneon sighed. She turned on her heels and headed down the path at a bit of a jog. Her pack was half as full as she would like it but she knew the road ahead was going to be rough and with all the stuff she had brought she would never have been able to protect herself.
