"So what time does the maitre d come and bring us the menus?" Giles said as he slumped to the back of the door blowing into his hands just as it closed with a loud whomp.
"Sorry, Charlie but I don't think we're at the Ritz here." She joked amongst the dim of the cavern. She looked around the small area noticing the small amount of ambient light coming from a tunnel that appeared on the far side.
"Where the heck are we?" Giles said amongst the echo of the banging from the ferocious storm raging outside.
"I'd like to say we're in the entrance to a perfect world, but that would be a lie," Simeneon said absentmindedly. "-But from what I've seen we're in the entrance way to the Ruins of the Lost Land."
"I've been meaning to ask what exactly are the Lost Lands." He asked.
"Something happened during the death of the Emperor Raheme that sent the aide away from the city. He and Sorcen did something terrible and when the wizard was captured he somehow escaped with the two halves of the pyramids. Well, the story is unclear from there but there is speculation that the aide had a small amount of powers of his own that was transferred to him by his master. Something went wrong at the other location of the pyramid piece and the aide had to travel here under unforeseen adversity. We knew he had created a special area to hide the one-half of the pyramid he stayed there for a few months waiting for things to get back to normal and then he left when hostilities died down. The pyramid is hidden somewhere in its depths."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Giles asked excitedly.
"Everything is not as it seems, in my experience, there are always complications." She sighed louder than she wanted to.
"What complications?"
"Booby traps, and lots of them. Take out your brains buddy because brawn will have nothing to do with it from here on in." She smiled then leaned over and clapped him on the shoulder.
"So where do we start?" He asked.
"From the beginning I guess. So get out your torch and let's get this thing over with." She looked back at him and ushered him on.
Giles shook his head and slowly got to his feet, "Fine, I would like to rest for a few minutes though if it isn't that much trouble."
He had just stepped from the door when the door whipped open with a slam that made him jump halfway across the entranceway. Simeneon rushed forward and closed the door again as Giles stood with his hand over his heart.
"Do you still want to rest?" Simeneon asked as she closed the door with a loud whomp.
"I think I can go on a little farther." He said amongst large breaths.
"That's what I thought," she said then began to laugh.
Simeneon stood with her torch flickering among the receding darkness waiting for Giles to prepare the top of his.
"Got any ideas on what we'll see?" He asked.
"It'll probably be something you've never seen before and-," Simeneon hesitated a minute then looked at Giles. "Uh... I want to thank you for helping me, if you want to leave now you're not obligated to stay anymore, you've done more than I expected you to do."
Giles lit his torch and pulled it up towards his face, his smile broad by the flickering orange light of the flames. "Are you kidding? This is the most interesting thing I've ever done in my life, for the past couple of years I've been bending over left, right, and center for that windbag of a boss."
