The dawn had broken with all its glory and the scary cabin and its surroundings did not look as menacing as it did during the battle that had taken place the previous night.
The doctor stood amongst the ruins of the shack looking through the rubble for any sign that Marlanda might not have been lucky enough to get out before the explosion. Upon his orders, Shawn was told to stay in the car in case something, anything was found that would make the ordeal that much harder.
"Find much?" Crazy asked. He had made his way over to where the doctor was sifting through what looked like a destroyed couch.
"Nothing, I'm starting to think they did get out in time." He shifted to a new pile of debris.
"How could they get out, the houses exploded just after they closed the door?" He looked shocked as he followed the doctor to the next heap.
"There are things in this world that you won't understand, and probably believe, but I'm here to tell you the world you knew before is gone. There is another world, one inside the one were in and I'll tell you this, the one that rules the other realm is not the friendliest of sorts."
"Do those creatures from last night belong to him?" Crazy asked nervously.
"Yes."
"Well, you know what, I've seen enough of that world, I think I'll get back to mine." He turned to walk from the ruins.
"You don't understand do you?" The doctor said as he stepped from behind the couch and made his way angrily to where Crazy was standing. "They know you exist now! You think this is over! It's just begun and your now part of it!"
"I DON'T WANT TO BE PART OF IT!!! I WANT MY OLD LIFE BACK!!! I NEVER ASKED FOR THIS!!" He yelled.
"YES YOU DID!" The doctor screamed. "IF YOU HADN'T BROUGHT THE IDEA OF THE SOUL SHADOW BACK INTO THE FRAY, THIS WOULD NEVER HAVE COME TO TUITION!! YOU MAKE THIS OUT TO BE OUR FAULT, WELL HANG ON THEIR BUB 'CAUSE YOU'RE IN THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL!!!"
The doctor stalked away before he let himself go any farther. Crazy stood back at the ruins to the cabin in bewilderment still numb from the doctor's backlash. Feeling a little better after getting the frustration off his chest he strode over to the car where Shawn was still sitting limply in the back seat of the destroyed car.
"You have to snap yourself together Shawn this is far from over there's still more to do." The doctor demanded.
"But what if I never see her again?" He whispered between sobs.
"You will if I have anything to do about it!' Dr. Miller snapped.
"What do you mean?" Shawn sat up a little taller than before.
"I mean we have a little surprise waiting for the realm."
"What surprise?" Shawn asked excitedly.
"Me." The doctor said with a sly smile spreading across his face.
"YOU! Oh no, I'll be the one going." Shawn spat.
"My boy you wouldn't last two minutes in the realm."
"How do you know, have you ever been to the realm."
"Well... no."
"Then how do you know I'll not fair as well?" Shawn challenged him as he got out of the car.
The doctor sighed. There was a noticeable softness to his voice now. "Shawn I know your hurting but there is something else I need you to do instead."
