I woke up, happy. Grateful to be elsewhere.
In my own apartment, with my own company.
Freedom feels weird in a good way. It's something new that I haven't experienced much of before. New thoughts and inspiration buzzed around inside my mind. New opportunities that I never thought would be within reach.
I got out of bed and glanced around my new bedroom. It followed a simplistic white theme. A white frosted glass-top desk, white bedsheets, white windowsills. I made my way to my closed door and gently pulled the silver handle, exiting my room. The morning sun had managed to pour into the living room despite the pulled curtains. I blinked a few times to adjust my eyes.
I will get used to my new life here.
Facing the light, I approach the windows and open them. Warm air floods through the wide gap.
A few of my recent artworks are scattered over the coffee table inside, but the breeze is not strong enough to faze them.
I lean down to collate them into a tidy pile, despite the drawings all being different sizes. Many resembled dark settings and houses near my old home. Thinking about them urged me to get rid of them. So that's exactly what I spent my morning doing. Tearing them up one by one.
This will be a new start. There's no point in wasting my thoughts on the past.
I've moved on and forgotten.
