Mercy POV

My phone buzzed I looked down at the Caller ID... FAKE MUM. I looked up and gulped. Should I answer or not? She hadn't answered any of my calls for the past 4 years, so why should I answer. I pressed decline and went on with my studying when the phone buzzed again indicating that a text message came through. It was from Fake Mum. You little brat answer the fucking phone or your father will get what's coming. It read.

"Jason" I yelled out and ran out of the room I was now sharing with Sable and Liv.

"What's up?" he asked not even looking up from his cards.

"Geez my life is over and you can't even look at me" I huffed. Who do I show this to? Hmm... I know.

"DAD!" I yelled out.

"Sable or Mercy?" He called.

"Mercy. Where are you?" I asked following his voice.

"In the garage" he responded, I ran into the garage and gave him the phone.

"I tried to show Jason since I'm pretty sure that 'father' part means him. But he didn't do anything" I explained having an anxiety attack.

That evil woman is going to kill me. My breathing stopped completely.

"MERCY, stop" Dad yelled as I clawed at my throat trying to breath again. My hands started to shake uncontrollably. Oh no...

"JASON" I screamed before the seizure took over.

I woke up in my bed. Everything was numb but I still felt the pain. The blankets around me felt so warm yet I felt cold. I sat up rubbing my eyes and yawning. Why is it that when I get injured it's my head that gets the most pain? I got up and looked out the window. It was dark out there. I grabbed some tracksuit pants, a jumper, some socks and my joggers and got dressed. I then quietly snuck out the back door. I looked inside the window to see a family sitting at the dinner table with two seats empty, but still they laughed and smiled. I ran away into the darkness.

"I know it's late, I need to see him" I begged the lady sitting in front of me.

"Visiting hours are between 8am to 11am then 2pm to 5pm" the lady informed me. I ran down the hallway in the direction of the ICU eager to see him. As I entered his room, I heard security guards run past and hid in the closet. The noise quietened. I went to the chair beside his bed and grabbed his hand.

"Hey Connor, I am going to treat this like a voicemail; Hey it's Mercy again, I hope that wherever you are, you're dreaming of Lollipops and rainbows." I said in a cartoon voice, being a little bit of a goofball. I swear he just hummed but it might just have been the machines or my imagination. I curled up beside him and fell asleep since it was like 11pm.

"GET OFF MY BROTHER!" I heard her voice in the distance. I woke up to Jem covering Sable's mouth with one hand and holding a bunch of clothes in the other.

"Hey Mercy, it's time for you guys to go to school. Jace got these for you" Jem gave me the clothes. I looked at them, then to Sable, then at Jem again.

"Why would I want to wear these?" I asked, referring to the clothes.

"That's what Jay got out for you, he said these were your favourite" Jem answered.

"But they're the same as what Sable is wearing, do you think this is a game?" I asked him.

"Wear what you're wearing now then" he lead Sable away, walking out. I decided to run after them.

"What about my school bag?"

"In the car."

"What about my medicine?"
