 Mercy's POV

I ate my breakfast in silence as the family talked about their busy schedule for today. I put my plate in the sink and washed it then grabbed my bag and waited outside. My phone buzzed and a text from Brayleigh popped up on my screen. Want to walk to school together? It read.

Sure I texted back.

"Bye" I yelled into the house and shut the door, running to the corner of my street. I saw Brayleigh walk up with a little girl.

"Hey Mercy, this is Kayleigh" She introduced us.

"Hi Kayleigh, how are you?" I shook her little hand.

"Mum just told me to take her to school." Brayleigh half smiled.

"The kindergarten is along the way." I told her taking Kayleigh's hand and we walked down the footpath.

"Bye Mercy" Kayleigh waved as she walked into her classroom.

"We're alone" Brayleigh smiled as we walked towards our school.

"Settle down girl" I giggled.

"OK, serious note, Albi... when are you going to forgive him?" she asked.

"I'm still thinking about that topic" I told her

"Are you really going to let a 15 year long friendship go down the drain?" she asked.

"I guess not" I sighed in response as we walked into the school grounds.

"See you at lunch?" she asked.

"Of course" I smiled. She kissed my cheek and we went to our lockers.

I grabbed my textbooks for Maths when... oh no. I dropped the books to look through my bag for them. Where did you put them Sable? I tipped my bag upside down onto the ground looking for my epileptic tablets. I heard the door open and people talking.

"Mercy? What are you doing?" I heard Gabe's voice ask. I looked up and saw Sable, Goel and Gabe standing around Goel's locker.

"Where did you put them?" I asked Sable.

"What? What did I touch?" she asked.

"My tablets, you know the ones that keep me alive" I asked a bit more sassy than needed.

"What's happening in here?" I heard Albi's voice, thank god. I stood up and ran to him.

"Do you still have the emergency pack?" I asked him praying that he says yes.

"Yeah" he paused "oh shit." He ripped his bag opened fumbling through he grabbed a card and popped a tablet into my hand. Gabe handed me my water-bottle and I took the medicine before sliding down the lockers slowly, catching my breath. I started cleaning the floor, putting everything back into my bag. Albi helped and picked up my math books.

"Maths A, great I can keep an eye on you" he half smiled at me.

"I'm sorry, I overreacted and I shouldn't let what happened in the past get involved with what we have now" I hugged him and kissed his cheek in a sibling type of way. I shut my locker and tried to get my books from Albi.

"Nuh ah, I'm carrying these" he turned so the books were out of reach.

"Fine" I walked beside him as we went to class.

"So... do you think this thing is gonna get serious?" he asked, and I knew exactly what he was on about.

"Maybe... I'm not sure yet" I told him honestly.
