I placed my hand near Josh's as we sat along and quiet on the rooftop. The stars seemed brighter than ever before and Josh's eyes twinkled beautifully. His red hair pushed to the side so he could have a better view.

"Stars are like ghosts." Josh started

"Care to elaborate?" I asked, cringing at how it sounded like I was a therapist.

"It's like-uh-the stars," I nodded," They're so many light years away from earth that it takes them billions of years for their light to hit us. So," he pointed at one of the bright specks in the sky,"let's say that one died. It blew up or something and is no longer a 'star'. We still see the light from it because of how far they are."

I looked at him in awe, almost as if he had explained the meaning of life. He looked down at me and giggled and did that cute smile that was small but still made his eyes squint a little.

"That's brilliant!"

He pulled me into his arms and we just sat there together, gazing at the stars, quietly, but peacefully.
