Day 2

It was cool and quiet, and Lily stared up at the ceiling, her limbs spread and her mind buzzing softly. Since she woke about an hour ago she hadn't heard noise outside of her room so she figured everyone else was still asleep. There was nothing she had to do but enjoy the day and she decided to spent her first waking hours doing nothing but lay, breathe, and blink. It was a fabulous waste of time.

She didn't bother getting up until her bladder was full and her growling stomach was making her need to urinate worse. She used the toilet then decided to take advantage of the luxurious tub available. Still there was no noise outside of her room so she soaked in the warm waters and scented herself with lavender simply because it was the first bottle she saw. Her muscles relaxed along with her mind and she stayed in the tub for as long as she could, until she started to get worried that the suite was silent for far too long. The kids should have been up and running about, at the very least. Concerned, she dried off quickly then dressed. She went out with moist hair and no shoes or socks in search of an explanation for the silence.

June was sitting on a comfortable chair on the patio, the doors leading to it wide open. She was drinking coffee, Lily assumed as she approached. "You're the only one up?"

Caught off guard, June looked up. "Oh, no. Tracy took the kids to the water park."

Lily frowned. "Without us?" She thought how she hadn't heard anyone come into her room to fetch the water park wristbands.

"You do realize how late it is, right? The kids wanted to go and Tracy offered to take them since she was ready and you were still asleep."

     "Why didn't you go?"

"Tracy said you didn't do well with waking up in strange places."

Lily grunted and took the second seat on the patio. There was a short table in front of the chairs and a plate atop it with crackers. Lily took one and popped it into her mouth, assuming June had brought them out to eat.

"Is there a story to that?" June asked, holding her cup of coffee to her lips. "Or just one of those childhood fears that stuck?"

Shrugging, Lily kicked up her feet. "When you're depressed and manage to get enough energy to do something, sometimes you do weird things to try to feel normal."

"Sorry I asked." June held out her arm and offered her cup of coffee.

Lily took it and sipped at it, wanting to wash down the cracker. The liquid was warm rather than scalding so she drank more. Smacking her lips, she handed back the cup and said, "You know I don't mind talking about it." She looked off to see the view the patio held. "Hey, you can see the water park from here."

"Yeah, that's why I'm out here. It's nice. This place is magnificent."

"It was the nicest resort closest to home."

     "Yours or mine?"

     "Tracy's."

June chuckled and put her cup down on the table. "The kids will probably keep Tracy occupied for hours. We could do something on our own while they're gone."

Lily continued to stare at the water park. It sparkled in the sun and looked awfully inviting. The kids would probably want to go on every ride they could and soak in every body of water they laid their eyes on. "I'm hungry. Have you eaten breakfast yet? We could check out the cafe they have here, if you're interested, I mean."

"I'd love to. Let me just put something more appropriate on."

Lily nodded and stayed seated for a minute as June left. She tipped her head back and soaked up a few more rays of sunshine before going back inside and to her room so she could brush out her hair and put socks and shoes on. A bra, too, would probably be in order. When she was done she stuffed her phone and the room key into her pocket then went out to meet June, who was done and ready to go.
