Squinting, Lily gazed across the park. It was unfamiliar to her and she inspected it because she may bring Danny one day in the future. They had do find a new spot to play out in the sun since the move.
"Look!"
Lily winced as little fingers gripped her face hard. Christina was sitting on her shoulders, legs around her neck, arms around her head. A finger wiped across her eyebrow and nearly poked her eye. "What?" she chuckled, moving the hand away. She held to Christina's ankles. "What am I looking at?"
"It's a cat!"
On a leash, there was, in fact, a cat. Lily gaped at it openly as it and its owner strolled by them without a care in the world.
June, having seen the spectacle, too, said, "This city is far more exciting than I expected." She watched the cat for a moment longer before returning forward. "Have you been around?"
Lily slumped slightly as Christina rested fully on her head and held under her chin. "Not really. I've seen a few things here and there but haven't had the chance to check anything out." She adjusted her 'helmet' and stood straighter. "Why? Did you want to go somewhere specific?"
"Oh, no. I was just asking."
"Sure?"
"Mhm. Is Tracy letting us back yet?"
"She hasn't called or texted. I'll send her another message." As she took out her phone, Lily had to flick away the intrusive hands playing over her eyes. A severe giggle vibrated her skill when she blew a raspberry. "Have you walked off breakfast? If Tracy's still playing this dumb game we should find somewhere to lay low for a while."
"Why don't we just go back? It's not like she can force us to do anything else."
"But she can bug us until we break."
"Good point."
Christina slapped at Lily's cheeks suddenly, excitedly, and squished her face. "Can we go there?"
"Bwah?" Lily managed, her lips involuntarily puckered by little squirming fingers. She looked where Christina was forcing her to and saw a flashy man handing out flyers to park-goers. His huge balloon hat made her chuckle. She approached him and bounced on her feet to jiggle Christina, and waited for June to get a flyer to see what the deal was. Christina nearly made her fall over when she reached out to poke the balloon hat.
"What is it?" she asked when Christina was right again.
June turned the paper over to see the back, found nothing, then returned to the front. "There's some kind of carnival thing going on today. It must be a small business if they need to hand out flyers to get people to come."
"Well we are in the middle of the city. They probably want to reach everyone. Where is it?"
"Oh. They've got cross streets. I've been here, or around there, anyway. It's about a half hour away."
Christina tapped Lily's forehead. "Can we go?"
"Don't ask me."
Christina slumped over Lily's head to look down at June. "Can we go?"
June squinted at the flyer. "No entrance fee. Bet that brings people in." She hummed, folded the paper, then shrugged. "I don't see why not. Has Tracy said anything?"
Lily frowned at her phone. "No. The-" she stopped herself and finished with "Jerk. Do you really want to go?"
"Yeah, sure. Could be fun."
