"Mami!"
Though her eyes didn't open, Lily awoke, and she turned over so the full weight of Christina jumping on the bed wouldn't squish her. "Que, mijita?" she groaned. She pulled the covers over her head as she felt Christina crawl up toward her.
"It's time to get up!"
Again Lily groaned. She kicked out just hard enough to poke her toe into June's foot. "Tell your mom."
Christina pouted and jumped over to June's side of the bed. "Mom!"
June exaggerated a snore. Lily snorted and slithered a hand to pinch whatever part of June she could reach. June yelped and rolled over. "Oh, come on. It's way too early. It's-" she reached over to find her phone and squinted at the screen "Seven in the morning!"
Christina wriggled excitedly. "Can we go?"
Lily sighed and escaped her blanket cocoon to sit up against the headboard. She flopped her hands over the covers onto her lap. Christina shoved herself into the little ditch there. "It's too early to go. Everyone is sleeping."
"But..."
"They're still going to be there later. Besides, I don't think they're open yet. They don't open until, when, noon?"
June lifted to sit up against the headboard as well. "Thankfully."
Christina slumped. "I want to go now."
"You've already waited this long," Lily told her. "What's a few more hours? Why don't you go get everything ready instead? We have to be ready."
Nodding, Christina rolled out of bed. But then she stopped a few feet away. "Te amo."
Cracking a smile, Lily blew a kiss. Christina blushed then ran off. Lily scooted down slightly to be comfortable then placed her hands beneath her head. It had been a whirlwind of excitement the last five months. Immediately after that day at that carnival that they ended up at because Tracy was being her usual difficult, annoying self, they had started up fiercely. They were in love and didn't want to go through the courting portion of a relationship. Not again. So they didn't. They went straight into what they wanted, what they agreed to, and hadn't stopped since. Lily still lived with Tracy, but commuted to be with June. Not that she had to commute frequently. More often than not she spent the night at June's and ended up staying for days or weeks at a time. It was heavenly.
"She's getting good," June commented as she leaned over and rested her head on Lily's chest.
Lily grunted in agreement. Christina had wanted to learn the monster language, and Lily had laughed but said she'd teach her. The cutie picked up short sentences and phrases quickly. She could almost have a simple conversation in Spanish. Lily was excited for the day she could have long, deep talks with her little girl. For once she would be speaking Spanish not in anger or depression. That was what was most thrilling about it.
"So why did we agree to do this, again?" June asked, slowly rubbing a hand up and down Lily's stomach.
"Because we wanted to."
June smiled. "It is a nice addition. You're going to be around more, right? Someone has to watch it while I'm at work and Christina is at school."
"I should probably bring some more clothes..." Lily ran a hand down June's back. "How much space do I have in my drawer?"
"None. But you can have another. I can make room in the closet, too."
