The dark curtain has fallen
A tangible hush upon the world
One by one the crickets begin to sing
Tentatively at first
And then a symphony only the lost ones can hear
Comfort swells the hearts of the downtrodden
The knowledge that they are not alone is a fire to warm their souls
Tension drains away
With it goes all pain and sorrow
Blissfully relieved of their burden they can at long last sleep
While the crickets, weighed down by the intensity of these feelings, continue to sing until one by one they are crushed by the overwhelming emotions they so willingly took on...
And are silent forevermore.
