Chapter 8: The Mountain of Agony (Magic Torch)

Areshia Ashley Mondragon POV:

I hurriedly run to the direction were the third task held, trying to catch up the girls from the competition.

I wouldn't let Mina win this time. This is very important to me. Everything is at stake here, and I shouldn't be losing this time.

Not minding where to go, I just lose to nowhere. I couldn't find any traces of where the girls are.

Our third task is to find the magic torch. The torch of light. We were told that we can see it in the mountains of agony. I don't know why they called that place the mountain of agony, but I'm sure there's a big reason for it.

I started to feel anxious when I heard a roar coming from a great dragon and its flying above the trees. When the dragon saw me, the dragon wanted to eat my flesh. I tried to use my magic but still something barrier protects the dragon. Out of hope, I tried to run faster. I didn't even care even I bump in a solid stones or big trees; all I want to do is save myself to a hungry predator. Luckily, my magic didn't disappoint me this time and because of it, I can be able to run wide than I expect.

I saw a big cave and for that I hide from it. I hold my breath, hoping that the dragon wouldn't see me. But I was so wrong, the dragon stops in the cave that I'm hiding. He has a strong sense to figure out that I was there hiding. The dragon started to blow his fire inside the cave and its freaking the hell out of me. The whole cave burn with too much intensity of fire. The last thing that I did to save myself is to go out from that cave. I run outside not minding with the dragon waiting to attack me. I was so scared and so helpless and I couldn't use my magic with this dragon.

When the dragon is ready to hit me, someone used flute that made the dragon stop. The dragon hands are hanging in a thin air and after a couple of whistle, the dragon manage to fly so high, away from me. His afraid with the sounds coming from the flute. It's a wonderful sound that can be heard in the woods. I almost cover my eyes ready to take the hit of a dragon but I was so lucky that someone helped me. And it shocked me to know that Bash is holding a flute between his hands. What is he doing in here? He helped me! I couldn't take my eyes of him. His so handsome, so perfect in my eyes. But this is not the right time to praise him like that. We are not meant for each other. I have a responsibility that need to put in attentions. I couldn't let my heart dictates this time. I promise the emperor not to stay close with Bash and I do understand his concerns.

I avoided his gaze and continued running with my fast ability. I'm so sure that his not following me and he disappeared just like that. Disappointment I felt when I realized, he didn't follow me. Part of me wants to be close by him. But my feelings right now are not important.

When I reached the valley of tears, I saw remaining ladies standing in the edge of the sea. Desperation is all I see in their faces. Obviously, they can't cross the valley of tears. No boats are there. I managed to form a boat without their knowledge. I jump in without hesitations. But Mina saw me maneuvering the boat. Typical of her she followed me, together with the other ladies. She planted a smirk smile on her face, without hesitation they jump in. My boat shakes a little bit but after a couple of seconds it balanced. Then, we continued to our journey.

The sea was too quite; too wide for you to swim and I don't know how to swim. I gaze my eyes straight, not looking to the quite river. It so peaceful and it scares me more. I'm aware that lots of monster are just there ready to attack us!

(Sometimes, those quite places are not the safe place to hang out. Because danger is always present.)

Suddenly, a big wave is coming to our direction and we didn't notice for a while. We pulled the trigger of the boat tighter, so it can stop in the middle of the sea. We were so stunned. Another wind blows in our direction that made our boat shake harshly.
