Sans sighed. It was burning outside in Hotland today, especially at this time of day. His bullies had gone home at the usual time. And so had Pap, and everyone else in his school. Lucky them, Sans thought. It was so hot out he felt like he was about to melt down into a puddle at any moment. He finally arrived at home, and let out a breath of relief as he reached for the doorknob. His hand wrapped around it and he quickly pulled it back, shaking it off. The metal doorknob was scalding hot from being out in the heat. Instead, he knocked loudly on the door with his other hand. The lab door slid open and Sans' father stood in front of him.

"Sans, why are you home so late?" His father sternly asked.

"Sorry, dad." Sans said. He knew this wasn't going to be easy to explain. He explained what had happened as best he could, but he left out the part about the bullies being at only 1 HP. Instead, he said he had only taken a little from them, and then left them alone after that. He also tried to make the explanation as quick as he could, since he was still burning in the heat. His father sighed and allowed him to come inside, but was not happy about it, Sans could tell.

Sans put his backpack down by the door, and went to the kitchen to get some water.

"I'm going to the basement to work. Papyrus is playing upstairs. I want you to take care of him while I'm gone." Sans watched his father disappear into the elevator to go downstairs to the lab. He grabbed his cup and went upstairs to go watch Papyrus. He had probably been bored without him.

"Papyrus, I'm home." Sans said, placing the cup down on the desk. Papyrus looked up excitedly, and ran to his brother immediately.

"Sans! Where have you been? I've been worrying!" Papyrus exclaimed, giving his big brother a hug.

"You were worried? I thought you were never gonna make it all the way home by yourself." Sans replied.

"What are you talking about? Of course I could! Like I said before, I, the Great Papyrus, am a very responsible skeleton!"

"You sure are, bro." Sans said, playfully tickling Papyrus.

"Nyeh heh, stop! Nyeh heh heh!" Papyrus giggled as Sans continued to tickle. He continued to laugh harder as Sans tickled him more and more.

It was moments like these, that made Sans remember what he was really fighting for.
