Sans stumbled along the snow-coated path, clutching his torso. He had never been this hungry before in his life. It had been a few days since the incident with Grillby's, and Sans had been able to forage together a few more gold from doing work, such as shoveling snow or managing the ice in the river. But, the pay was very little, especially since he was so inexperienced, and he had to put out a majority of his money just to pay for the inn and keep Papyrus fed, let alone himself. He rarely attended school, and when he did, he was extremely behind. Any work he could do at his age was short, and he was down to his last 5g. He knew he needed to eat, but . . . Papyrus needed him so badly . . .
Papyrus . . .
He stumbled, snapping out of his thoughts. Unable to regain his balance, he fell into a heap of snow. Shivering, he pushed himself up. It took all of his strength to do so. Weak from hunger, he stumbled along the path, clutching his abdomen. He needed food . . .
Now.
He wavered along the sparkling white path, his vision beginning to blur. He could see Grillby's in the distance. He had 5g . . . 5g . . . it would be enough . . . he would make it enough . . .
All of Snowdin was spinning around him, and he was beginning to black out. All he was aware of was the exhaustion, the dizziness, the blurriness . . . but surprisingly, there was no pain.
He felt no pain. Nothing. All he could feel was the fatigue setting in, his mind and body shutting down . . . but no pain.
He didn't feel hungry.
He only knew that he was.
He finally reached Grillby's, leaning against the outside wall. His legs shook, threatening to give out.
Just . . . a little . . . further . . .
He reached the door and tripped, collapsing into the snow. He tried desperately to get back up, but his body wouldn't allow him. What little strength he had left had completely disappeared. Suddenly, the door burst open, and in the center of his blurred vision, Sans could barely make out the glow of a bright orange flame.
"Grillby . . ." He barely managed to get out. ". . . Take care of Papyrus for me."
And then, everything went black.
