"Sans! S-stop! Please!" Papyrus muttered through his laughter. "Stop tickling!"

They both continued to laugh until Papyrus rolled sideways into the desk, causing the glass of water to topple off of it and onto the floor. Both of them instantly fell silent.

"Oops." Sans said quietly.

Papyrus stared at the spilled water for a minute, then looked up at Sans and started to cry.

"No no no! It's okay Pap! It was an accident, don't cry! It's okay!"

God, Sans hated seeing Pap cry. It was like hearing nails on a chalkboard. You don't know why it affects you. It just does. Well, the same went for Pap's crying. Whenever he cried, Sans almost felt like crying himself. Pap was the only person Sans felt truly close to. The only one Sans knew he could always trust. And hearing him cry... It just didn't feel good, you know?

"It's okay Pap, I'll just clean it up, okay? Don't cry."

Papyrus sniffled and buried his head in Sans' shoulder. Sans hugged him back, patting him on the back comfortingly. "It's okay, bro."

"Okay..." Papyrus let go of Sans and sat up, wiping the tears off his face. "Sorry Sans..."

"It's okay Pap, it was an accident." Sans said, standing up. "I'm gonna go downstairs and get a cloth, okay?"

"Okay." Papyrus scooted backward to his pile of toys spread on the floor. Sans watched him pick up a few of them and start acting out a little scene. Cute... He thought, and closed the door.

He came back up with a cloth to absorb the water, which he did. Then he picked up the glass, which somehow hadn't broken when it hit the ground. He took it downstairs to the sink and washed it, tucking it back in the cupboard.

He sighed and leaned back against the wall. Suddenly the basement door squeaked, and Sans turned in that direction. His father stepped up, grinning widely. His experiment must have been successful.

"What happened? Did your experiment work?" Sans asked. He was relieved to see that his father at least wasn't mad about him being home so late anymore.

"You bet it did. And I could use a hand." His father winked at him.

Sans' eyes widened.

"Really? You're gonna let me help?" Sans exclaimed happily. He had always wanted to be able to help his dad out in the lab.

"Sure! So what do you say?" His father asked.

"Yes yes yes! Thank you so much!" Sans said, almost jumping up and down.

"You're welcome Sans. You're a smart kid, after all, and I think your ideas could be of help."

"Thank you!" Sans shouted, giving his dad a hug.

Maybe even with the bullies giving Sans trouble at school, the time at home wouldn't be so bad.
