I woke up when I hit my head on something. I opened my eyes, it took a second for them to adjust. When my eyes were able to focus I realized that I was in the back of a car I looked next to me, Jack was sitting there staring off into space. I tried to say something, but my mouth was taped shut. I also saw that my wrists and ankles were tied together with zip ties.
I nudged my arm into Jack's. He jumped and looked happy that I was awake.
He quickly took the tape off my mouth and helped me take the zip ties off my wrists and ankles.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"In a car." He said.
I rolled my eyes.
"No idea where we are referring to location?" I asked specifying.
"No, last thing I saw was the school." He said.
I don't know what got into my head, but it finally hit me. I was being kidnapped.
My heart started to beat out of my chest.
"Kate, calm down." Jack whispered.
"Jack, is this how I'm going to die? I am literally seeing the end of my life right now." I said hyperventilating.
"Maybe you'll live a little longer if you lower your voice." He whispered.
The car took a sharp turn sending us flying to the right of the car.
"Did you happen to get a small glimpse of the person?" I asked.
"Nope." He said.
"Wait, you have your phone." I said getting a little excited.
"Fell out of my pocket." He said looking at the floor.
"Jack, if someone opens the door you have to run. I'm going to distract them." I said.
"Kate, if anything you should run. I'm not going to leave you here with someone who could possibly kill you." He said.
"Jack just run when they open the door. They might think that having only me is enough." I said.
"But-." I cut him off.
"No, you're going to run. When you see a person, a car, anything get their attention and tell them." I said.
"Kate, I don't want to scare you." He started.
"Trust me, you can't scare me anymore than I already am." I said.
"What if I come back and... you're not here." He said.
"All I care about is you right now." I said.
"Kate..." Jack said almost disappointed.
"This could possibly be the last time that I will see you." I said starting to tear up.
Jack scooted over to me and hugged me tighter than ever.
"I love you, Kate." He whispered, I could tell that he was crying.
"What if they don't let me run? What if they stop me?" He asked letting go of me.
"Then you'll find another time that you can run." I said.
"If you want a chance to survive, you have to run. If you want me to have a chance of surviving, then you have to run." I said.
Jack looked down at the floor of the car and didn't say anything.
