As the drive continued, Kirenia noticed Tex was constantly looking at his fuel gauge. "Tex, you've got half a tank, is it really that worry some?" Tex did a double take. "I could've sworn I was down to a quarter." Kirenia looked Tex in the eye. "Babe is something stressing you out?" "No. I'm fine." "Are you trying to make sure this date goes perfectly?" Kirenia questioned with a smirk. "I..Yes." "Tex. It doesn't matter how this date goes. As long as I'm with you I'm happy." Tex smiled and pulled her closer, just as they pulled out to the house. Tex got out first, and helped Kirenia out, leading her inside, where Tinker was just finishing making dinner, while Mrs. Sawyer sat near by the moment she saw Kirenia her jaw dropped. "Where on earth did you find a little thing like her!" Tex instantly burst into laughter. "Didn't expect her to be such a catch?" "No!" Kirenia began to giggle, unable to contain the sound. "Don't you recognize her? She's the little weasel that took Tinker's hand." Mrs. Sawyer looked to her son's missing hand, then looked to Kirenia, then back to Tinker, eyes wide. "Really?!" Everyone burst into laughter. Kirenia laughed til she couldn't breath, she eventually calmed down, wiping a tear from her eye. "How about we get acquainted over dinner?" Kirenia suggested. Everyone nodded, and sat down at the table, Kirenia making sure to sit as far away from the corpse as possible. They were just about to get dinner started, when Kirenia's phone rang, she excused herself, and stepped outside to answer the call. "Hello?" "Is this Kirenia Krueger?" "Yes." "I'm from the New Jersey animal control. The place where you were boarding you horse Gypsy Child has just been found guilty of animal neglect. Your horse is in poor condition." Kirenia started to cry. "I-don't..How bad is she? Please tell me she's at least has a chance at living." "She does. But we would like it if you came and took her, she would probably fare better with you." "I will thank you." Kirenia ended the call, and walked back in, where Tex instantly jumped up, and rushed to her side. "What's wrong?" "I just found out that the person who I paid to house and feed my horse Gypsy Child was just found guilty of animal neglect, she's in poor condition, and animal control want me to come pick her up." Kirenia sobbed "Ma, Tinker. I'm sorry, but I gotta go." "Tex! No, you don have to.." "I insist." He grabbed the keys to his car, and led Kirenia outside, where the moment they were in the car, Tex sped of towards his and tinker's house, needing to get the truck they used for hauling their own horses. "I've got a truck we can use to transport her." Tex said as they pulled up. Kirenia followed him to an old light tan ford pick up, with a horse trailer attached to it. "Come on." Kirenia nodded and got in the passenger side. "Now where is this place at?" Tex asked while he got some hay for Gypsy Child to eat in the trailer, along with some water. "Just past the place where I told you to get the medicine for your brother. There's a horse statue out front, can't miss it." Tex nodded as he grabbed a halter and lead rope,
and headed into one of the many barns on the property, returning a few minutes later with a buckskin stallion.
"What's he for?" "This is Prince. My horse. He's going to stay in the trailer with your horse, and let us know if she goes down." Kirenia nodded as Tex put him in the trailer, before closing it, and jumping into the driver's seat, heading for the Shelter. The entire way there Kirenia cried and prayed, just wanting Gypsy Child to be there, waiting for her. Tex pulled into the pick-up area, and Kirenia rushed in, telling them who she was, just as Tex got out. He rushed over while Kirenia followed an officer to where they had Kirenia's horse, and the moment Kirenia saw her beloved horse, she broke down crying. Gypsy Child recognized her rider, and instantly started to act up, struggling to get to her. She quickly figured out how to undo the lock on her stall, and got out, going to Kirenia as fast as she could, despite being nothing but skin and bones. "I'm so sorry big girl. I should've never let that horrible man even meet you. I promise I'll make it up to you. I'll get you an entire bucket of apples and carrots. I'll get you a gallon of mineral water, and I'll make sure you have a nice warm bath. Whatever you wanna eat you can have. Grain, fodder, hay, you name it and you can have it." Kirenia cried out, trying to make it up to her horse, hoping she would forgive her, but Gypsy Child didn't want any of that, she just wanted to be with her rider. Safe and happy. She nickered, and nuzzled Kirenia. "You're not mad?" Gypsy Child seemed to shake her head as if saying."No." and huffed, blowing Kirenia's hair. Kirenia giggled, and pet her horse. "You wanna get out of here big girl?" Gypsy Child nodded, and whinnied. "You can take her now. We did a quick check, and your friend said that you're a loving pet owner." Tex looked at her. "Friend?" "Mark. He came to visit. He not that kind of friend love." Kirenia said as she pulled Gypsy Child's halter out of her purse. "Come here pretty girl." Kirenia slipped the halter on, and began to slowly lead the Vanner out to the trailer. Tex rushed ahead, and opened it up for her, Prince instantly starting to get curious, but the moment he saw Gypsy Child, he was love struck. He gave a long loud whinny, and pawed the floor, his horseshoes making a *clang* as they hit. Gypsy Child tried to back up, but Kirenia stopped her. "Hush. Hush. He won't hurt you." Gypsy Child calmed, and stepped up. "Good girl." Tex closed the door, and helped Kirenia into the pick up.
