Chapter IV: The Slavery of Nationalism

Tribes, a primarily concept of nowadays' societies, a concept with its infinite drawbacks and countless deficiencies led to many undesired consequences throughout ages. Blind obeisance, fanatic loyalty and overloaded pride were the fuel to ignite severe conflicts and endless bloody wars.

This very same concept seem to be still the leading ordering law of human engroupements yet hidden in the disguise of patriotism and martyrdom-for-one's country... Ladies and Gentlemen, Nationalism for you. It has the skeleton and the shape of Tribalism in a modern way, it's one of the most stupid and irrational beliefs as you consider yourself superior to someone else who wasn't born in the same land or territory as you. Today we are creating more conflits from discriminating each other based on birth place and nationality, we are inventing new difficulties in the intra-human relationships and initiating for new existential dilemmas, and new conundrums in this poly-governments world.

In Nationalism, we are taught to sanctify things we haven't done and history we didn't take part of. In Nationalism, we are taught to hate people we never knew and curse others we never met. Blind obeisance.

Humanity have suffered to a great extent from skirmishes, bellum civile and vendettas caused by tribal's pride, dynasty's interests and ethnic medleys in a way we are often mistaken by the cultural differences and illusioned by the diverse racial backgrounds, that we believed it is a reason to feel divided, far from each other and separated by such deceptive and misinterpreted perception. Whereas it is not. We are supposed to generate peace out of history and a Remontada on the dark past of conflits and wars. we are ought to invest in our cobwebbed cultural stock, that is homogeneously conjugated granting us a the circumstances to peacefully cowork and cooperate to advance our specie towards what's best for the globe.

The real problem with the doctrine of Nationalism, and its derivatives, is that it privileges the interests of a certain nation above the global considerations. Means it is fine for nationalists to cause harm to the environment, to a sect, and even to other countries, just for their own benefit. Such devotion instigates the foundation of new dogmas, as like Fascism, Chauvinism and Jingoism that have already caused enormous disasters, countless conflits and millions of deaths. Nationalism stimulates Xenophobia and urges to kill the joy of tourism and exploring the world, it creates a barrier for scientists and engineers who travel from continent to another, for the sake of knowledge and innovation. Under such reigning credos, foreigners, especially refugees, will not be welcomed and might get rejected, either by the racist people, or by the radical laws and strict regulations.

Why there are those who are proud of Hiroshima's atomic bombing or Nagasaki's nuclear attack? Why some people support Bin Laden's Terrorism or accept war against Iraq? Why some justify colonization? Answer: Fanatic Loyalty.

The way Nationalism is overwhelming Patriotism is incontrovertibly disgusting. Two fondamental definitions need to be distinguished and disambiguated. Being a patriotic person calls for respecting the law, the constitution and the national institutions, positively participating in the community life and actively endeavouring and engaging in the civil society, being an effective citizen and in phase with the country's economic development, civic mouvements, popular demands and political processes. It calls for respecting the national identity, roots, tradition, culture, and loving the country.
