(Bryce's POV)

The world was dark, and the only sound was that of the leaves crunching under my feet. Why did we ever think that playing hide and seek in the woods at night was a good idea? I shivered as the air seemed to grow impossibly colder, my breath coming out in white wisps before me. I heard something break behind me, and I quickly whipped around, but I couldn't see anything.

"Hello?" I called out. Nothing. I turned and continued walking, but made sure to periodically look behind me. For a while, there was nothing more, until I heard the sound again. I turned around to be met with a giant cloaked figure. I didn't know what it was, but I didn't want to stay to find out. I ran deeper into the woods, trying to lose the figure that was gaining on me. Trees and bushes hit and scratched me relentlessly. Of course, being me, I tripped over an exposed tree root, falling forward and rolling ungracefully down a hill. Suddenly I felt myself encased in something cold and suffocating. I made the mistake of trying to breathe, and freezing cold water filled my nose. I thrashed around, trying to get air to no avail. I couldn't find the surface and the world was quickly becoming dark. My body slowly began to lose feeling and I felt myself slipping away. The last thing I saw was the cloaked figure approaching me...

I shot up, my breathing labored and tears coming down my face. Mini stumbled back a few steps as I had surprised him by getting is so quickly. I swore I could still feel the water in my lungs, the sting of it in my nose.

"Bryce, thank god. You were thrashing around in your sleep so badly I was worried I'd have to have Tyler pin you down. Are you alright?" I took a moment to try and get my breathing back to normal. I gave a slight nod.

"Y-yeah, I'm okay now." I told him. Just then I heard a knock at out door. I looked at Mini who just went to open it. The guys came in, immediately asking if everything was okay.

"Yes, I'm fine. I'm sorry for scaring you."

"What happened anyways?" Del asked.

"It was just a nightmare; I get them from time to time. Nothing to worry about." I told them.

"Will you tell us what it was about?" Mini asked. I just shook my head. I really didn't want to have to relive that memory more than needed. They frowned, but respected the fact that I didn't want to tell them.

"Well, we may as well get ready."

We walked into the cafeteria, where I was immediately greeted by Ohm.

"Bryce, are you okay? You ran out really quickly yesterday." He said.

"Yes Ohm, I'm fine." I said, blushing as he gave me a smile that could melt anyone's heart.

"Oh, that's good to hear. Have a good day Bryce." He said and walked away to go meet with his friends.

"Ooo, does Bryce have a crush already?" Craig teased. I flushed even more.

"I wouldn't be one to talk. With the amount that you and Tyler talk about each other you may as well be a couple. You should've heard him yesterday, every other sentence had to do with you being back." I said. Both went red and the others started laughing.

"So Bryce can bite." Brian joked. I rolled my eyes, but still laughed.

"Whatever, c'mon guys, I'm starving." They agreed and we went to grab our food. After we all sat down, Delirious got everyone's attention.

"So guys, I was thinking that today after school we could go to the lake, just to hang and have some fun." At the word lake, I froze, the old events playing my mind like a broken record. After everything that had happened when I was a kid, I hadn't stepped foot near a lake, nor had I gone back into a forest.

"Bryce, how about you, you in?" I shook my head.

"Uh, n-no thanks, I think I'll just stay here. Everyone looked at each other worriedly.

"Why not?" Craig asked. I didn't look them in the eye; I didn't want them to know about my fear. I wad already lame enough without powers, let alone being scared of water.

"No reason really, I just don't really feel like it." I could tell that they weren't buying anything that I had said.

"What's the real reason you don't want to go?" Tyler asked. I sighed, no, I couldn't tell them. Not yet at least. Maybe after I found my powers.

"No, really, I just don't really want to. You guys go on, I'm fine with staying here. Don't let me stop you." I could tell that they wanted to press for more information, but I was grateful that they didn't.

"Hmm, if you say so, but at any point, if you want us to come back, don't hesitate to call." Del said.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine. Now, we should probably head to class."
