(Bryce's POV)

When I woke up, I was encased in a white light. I first panicked, glancing around wildly in an attempt to figure out where I was. Relatively quickly the light began to fade, and I found myself in a room. The room was fairly dull, with a dark brown carpet and off white walls. It was empty save for a single bed in the corner on which I was placed. I was confused and scared, unsure of what was going on. The last thing I remembered was me...dying, with Ohm and the others by my side. Where was I? Was I dead? Was this what the afterlife looked like?

I was startled out of my thoughts by a sound coming from the door. I shot my head up and saw that the door was opening. When the person on the other side entered, I was struck with a sense of familiarity. A woman walked into the room. She had long brown hair with a single purple streak running through it. Covering her body was a purple cape and. She looked up at me with brown eyes, quickly realizing that I was awake.

"Ah, I see that you are finally up," she said, moving closer to me. I glanced at her in confusion. She seemed so familiar but I couldn't place why.

"Who are you? Where am I? What happened?" the questions flew out of my mouth before I could stop them. The woman just looked at me and chuckled.

"I understand that you have questions, but they will be answered soon enough. For now, I will tell you my name is Minx. We have met briefly before." Then it clicked. Back all of those months ago when I first got my powers, I saw her when I was in my weird coma like state.

"Here follow me, we have much to discuss." She motioned for me to get up and so I did, moving behind her. We walked out of the room and into a hallway. The hallway was long and wide, filled with multiple doors. Eventually we came to a very large room, filled with people. There were tables and chairs spread all throughout the room, all of which held many of the people that were walking around and socializing with the others in the place. Minx led me over to an empty table where we both then sat down.

"What is this place?" I started, deciding to get that question out of the way first.

"This place doesn't really have a name, but the best I could compare it to is a limbo. Between the world of the living and the dead. Most of the people you see here are souls that haven't found peace yet- souls that have something keeping them from the afterlife." I looked up in concern.

"Does that mean that's why I'm here? What is it that I need to do?" Minx chuckled.

"No Bryce, you're not here because of that. You're here because you're special." I narrowed my eyes.

"What does that mean?"

"Let's put it this way: you aren't here because you have 'unfinished business'; you're here because you caused yourself to come here. Before you say anything, I know you still don't understand. But I'm going to help you piece it together. Think about it, back on the night when you first received your powers what happened?"

"Uh, I tripped over a tree root, fell into a freezing cold lake, and then almost drowned. Why?" I had no idea where she was going.

"Right, and you gained the powers of water and earth, correct?" I nodded. She then grew a wicked smile.

"Well Bryce, you gained another power that night." I was shocked by her sudden statement. There was no way I had another power. I already had my powers, there was no way I had more.

"No, no that's not possible."

"Oh, but it is Bryce. Just think. Elemental powers are caused by fear, and the night that you received your powers, you fell into a lake."

"I don't understand. I can't have another power, there's only 3 and I've never had a problem with fire." She shook her head.

"There is another element. It is called spirit. Spirit is an element tied with an almost ethereal feeling. Life, death, spirits, etc. Here, I know how to prove it to you. With a few different examples, but first, what were you thinking right before you died?"

"I-" I stopped to think, "I was scared." She nodded.

"And the day that you rescued Marcel and Luke, you encountered metums, right? And you were able to talk to them? Metums are spirits, Bryce, no one should be able to talk to or hear them." My eyes widened as she explained. There's no way...right?

"Look down at your arm, Bryce." I almost choked as I stared at my tattoo. Resting above my original tattoo was what looked to be a purple pentagram. There were smaller triangles within each point, and in the middle, there was a small swirl.

"On the night that you received your powers, you almost drowned to death. Bryce, you were scared of dying, which manifested spirit. It took you dying for you to finally unlock your power, and that is why you are here." I stared, unable to think or speak or react at all. Not even in death did I get a chance to find peace. A new element, one that I didn't even knew existed, forced itself upon me and I didn't even get a say. I shook my head slightly. Go freakin figure.

"What does this mean?" I asked quietly, my voice barely above a whisper.

"It means you still have much left to do. Your journey is far from over, Bryce McQuaid."

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

I don't know what to do with my life right now. It's finally finished, and yet I don't know whether to be happy or sad. After all this time, it has come to an end.

Buuuuuut, I have decided to make a sequel (of course) so this isn't totally over yet. Now, a few things about the sequel: I think what I'm going to do is have alternating view points with Bryce and Ohm, as in one being one chapter and the other being the next, blah blah, blah. I haven't fully decided yet though, so we'll see. Also, I think I am going to start the sequel around the time summer starts. I know, like 2 months, but if I do it then, that gives me more free time to be able to write and put out chapters more.

In the mean time though, I have been wanting to publish a minicat story of mine that I have been working on a little bit. I'll probably start that story here in the next week or so, so if you're interested, be on the look out for that! I'm pretty excited about it, so ya.

Anywho, if you made it this far, I hope you enjoyed and I'll see you in the next story.
