You had all been driving around for hours, asking around for anyone who would know the story about the haunted mill of the town, but it seemed as though today was just not your day. Everyone you spoke to had no idea about the local legend and said that the younger kids probably would, "If there is such a story" as most of them said. It was getting late and none of you had eaten anything proper since lunch, so you stopped off at a bar you had passed a couple of times. You all strolled inside and sat at a table before Sam got up and ordered for all of you.The wait wasn't long and you were soon all eating and having drinks and talking over what to do the next day. Dean had mentioned going to more youth-appointed places, such as the youth clubs that were dotted around town and before anyone could shoot down his idea he corrected himself.
"Not all of us. Just Charlie and Y/N." Charlie groaned, hating the idea.
"What? You got a better idea? Anyway, you guys will be able to blend in easier. If we were to go in we would stick out like bone-""Okay, okay! We will go as long as you don't finish that sentence!" Charlie cut in and Dean smirked at how well that worked.
About 15 minutes later you all saw something- or rather- someone you weren't expecting. The door of the bar opened and in walked Zara Jonston along with a few friends, it seemed. They walked straight past you all and took a table down the far side of the bar, by the windows that showed the little playground outside for the younger visitors. She began to look around in her seat and quickly clocked you all sitting at your booth. She stared for a second, seemingly making sure that it was you and then averted her eyes and began to whisper to her friends who each quickly looked around at you, but one of her friends seemed more dumbstruck than the rest of them.
It was your turn to get the drinks for the table, so you got up with everyone's order and waited in the short line. You soon felt someone stood behind you, but a tad too close and you turned around to see the young brown-haired girl who's reaction to her friend was different than everyone else's earlier. You smiled, rather awkwardly, and turned back around to see that the bartender was finished giving drinks to the person in front of you. You ordered everyone's drinks and soon Charlie came over to help you carry them all back to the table and as you made your way back you felt eyes on you, setting the drinks down on the table, you almost knocked one over as you felt a soft tapping of fingers on your shoulder and you spun around to see that same brown-haired girl, looking between you, the guys and the floor anxiously, screwing the bottom of her shirt up in her fist. You calmed down quickly, seeing there was no threat.
"Can I help you?" You asked her politely."N-no... But maybe I can help you. You spoke to Zara today, right?" She willed herself to look at your face.
"Yes, we did, but she wasn't able to help us very much." You admitted.
"You asked her a lot about the haunted mill. Why was that?" She timidly asked.
Your face showed a glow of hope. "Why do you want to know? Do you know something of it? Where is it?" You rushed the questions at her, losing your professional spine that had held you up earlier that day.
"N-no," suddenly your face dropped. The hope you felt a second before was gone. "But I know someone who does know about it. Why do you want to know so much about that place, though? What does it have to do with Maria's disappearance?" She obviously wasn't going to tell you anything until you answered her question, so you cleared your throat to ready yourself to sound as convincing as possible.
"Well, you see, that mill is the last known location of Maria as well as some other youths that have gone missing over a long period of time. We believe someone may be kidnapping them from there because of its popularity with the youths, making it the perfect hunting ground for a kidnapper." Your professional backbone and your hope was back and as well as that, you were making an impact on this girl. Her eyes got wider as you told her of the disappearances and she actually seemed... excited?
Usually you wouldn't tell anyone this much, but you hoped that by doing so would have her spread the word to her friends and other youths, this way, hopefully, the disappearances would stop because no one would be wanting to visit the place for fear of being kidnapped. "Therefore, if we go and check out that particular spot, then we could possibly catch the kidnapper in action and have proof enough to make an arrest on sight." You finished. The girl's eyes were as wide as saucers by now and she quickly pulled out the pen she had in her pocket and scribbled quickly onto a random piece of paper that was lying on a table.
"That's my name- Alycia- and here's my number-""Why would I need your name and number?" You asked, curiously.
"You know- uhm- just in case you find anything, so I can let Zara know-"
"But we already have Zara's contact details, so we can let her know directly." This stopped Alicia in her steps and her true intention was thrown into light.
"Okay, well then, in case you get a night off, then..." She admitted shyly and threw her eyes back to the paper "and here's the name of the person you need to talk to- Eliza- and where you can find her to find out about the haunted mill." Trying to take the attention off of what she just said, which didn't work because after she walked off and threw a shy smile your way, you turned back to the guys to see them gob-smacked.
"Did you just-" Charlie started.
"Pick up a chick?" Dean ended.
"I... I... Maybe?" You were still confused and decided it was maybe time to leave.
Charlie tagged along with you to the car, staying strangely silent on the ride back to the motel, following behind the boys' Impala.
