You could barely keep yourself awake on the way back to the motel. Charlie and three djinn victims shared the space of the vehicle with you, so you felt an obligation to stay awake and deliver them someplace safe even if it was a rather small motel room that you would all be staying in. Two victims were male while one was female. This latest Djinni didn't seem to discriminate, seeing as the victims were all of different ethnicities. Seeing the Impala just ahead of you, your mind suddenly switched to hoping that Dean was still asleep.
Back at the motel you locked your car, keeping the sleeping victims as safe as they could be as you set up beds with blankets and air-mattresses on the floor of the motel room assigned to Charlie and yourself.
You had decided that Castiel and Dean would have one of the male victims sleep in their room and you would have one male and female in yours as well as Charlie.Once set up, you made your way outside and woke the others up from the car. Tamo would be staying in Dean's room while Leanne and Saki slept on the floor of the honeymoon suite with you and Charlie in the bed, as usual. It didn't take long for everyone to first settle into your room as you cooked food to keep health up and then for everyone to settle into their assigned rooms and fall asleep, it was easier for everyone but you.
How do you even begin to process what happened today?
Sam is now, you're guessing, a Djinni and you almost lost Charlie forever.
Forever. Fuck. She was almost gone. You guessed that just two more days would have ended her since they seemed to have been trying to get rid of her faster than the others, possibly as a warning or revenge, you weren't sure.
FuCK.An eruption of tears fled over you and the burning of your eyes didn't help distract you of the pain in your heart as you desperately hoped no one could hear your quiet sobs.
"Ssshhhhhhhh" you felt a hand pat at the side of your face and, unable to calm yourself, watched through blurry eyes as Charlie looked on at you with sleepy eyes and comforted you with slow, lazy hands.
I need to be closer to her.
Closer.
Until you were finally in her arms."I'm so sorry, Charlie. Fuck, I'm so sorry." You whined, hoping she could feel your sincerity if you said it enough.
"No use crying over spilled nuggets, my dear." You looked back at her with confusion in your eyes before realising she was sleep-talking as she went silent and continued to slowly, steadily breathe in her deep slumber.
Your phone suddenly chimed quietly from under your pillow. Confused, you twisted your arm behind your head and under the pillow, recovering it and blinding yourself with the unlocked screen.
Castiel: Y/N, are you awake?
Your eyes had finally adjusted and you typed back.
You: Yes, I'm beginning to think I don't have a choice in that matter.
A few seconds passed.
Castiel: Would you like to step outside for a while?
You: Would it be smart to just leave them? We should stay here and watch over them, right?
Castiel: Rooted as always, I see.
You smiled at that and then another message came through.
Castiel: We won't go anywhere. We will just be outside the doors so that we can talk without waking them up.
You: Um.. yes, okay. Give me a minute and I'll be out.
You pushed yourself up and carefully got off the bed, being sure not to step on the slumbering teens on the floor. Then you got a coat on and went quietly outside to meet with Castiel.
He emerged from the room next door shortly after you, making sure not to slam the door behind him.
You quirked your eyebrow at him when you were both outside."What's going on? Is something wrong?" You asked.
Castiel was silent with his head bowed so you couldn't see his expression.
"I assume you had something to talk about, but now cat's got your tongue?" Your confusion doubled and Cas finally looked up at you with confusion of his own.
"No feline has possession of my tongue.." you immediately deadpanned.
Still as clueless as always..
Cas tilted his head at you.
Dammit.
You shuffled from his gaze.
"No matter... why did you ask me to come out here?"Cas shook his head and breathed deeply before finally telling you.
"I... I think there are more out there..""More what out where?" You were the clueless one now.
"The kids. I think there are more victims."
"That's a little obvious, kids have been going missing for a while now, there were definitely more..." you became quieter "...but the Djinni.. must have disposed of them... apart from the ones that were in there because they had only very recently died." You looked at the ground trying to push back tears.
"That's the thing, though. I don't think they're dead. Y/N, when we were in there and you found that room all I could think of was how big that building was. The Djinni had hidden a room away in a broom closet. He obviously wanted to keep the victims hidden, so I came to the conclusion that there must be more than one of those rooms. I also theorised that the Djinni also knew they wouldn't be getting out of that fight alive which is why-"
"-Sam.. that must be why it changed Sam! Why would it just change one of us and leave him in an empty mill? He needed a guard! There are still more victims in there! We need to go! We need to go and get them! This is why you called me out here! We need to leave right now!" You were already way ahead of yourself, running down the stairs of the top floor motel rooms before you felt a pull.
"Y/N, no! There were five of us there yesterday and barely four came back with the victims! You really think it's going to go well if less than half of us go this time? And the Djinni chose to change Sam for a reason. Do you really think we two are enough to get through Sam and then get every last victim out of that place because my logical side is telling me that this is a suicide mission if we go alone. We need back-up." Once he said that, he slipped his phone from his pocket and began making calls. You caught on and did the same, attempting to reach as many hunters in your contacts as you could.
