j o s h ' s p o vi looked up at giant lit sign, 'night club,' it was a light blue and it was actually quite nice.
blue was my aesthetic.
i walked up to the doors and a security guard stopped me, i sighed and reached in my back pocket for my id. (he didn't notice that it was fake.) he nodded his head and opened a rope thing.
yes, they still do that.
i walked inside and immediately i heard people laughing and talking. it was dark with lights flashing on and off, the dance floor was lit and it switched colors. it went from blue to black. blue smoke was filling up the place, not crazy, but it annoyed both me and my lungs. fifth harmony was on and i felt like dying. i walked through a crowd of girls, they all looked at me and sheepishly grinned. i ignored them and i walked to the bar counter.
i took a seat on a stool and the bar tender came over. he asked what i wanted and i told him whatever is best for a kid with a lung problem. he opened his mouth to say something but then closed it.
i crossed my arms on the table, and i looked to my right. an older man, maybe in his forties or fifties was staring at me. he winked and i sighed. i looked to my left and it was an empty row of stools.
the bar tender came back with a glass and a foamy, dark brown substance was inside. i put it up to my mouth and took a sip.
"this is root beer?" i said, setting the glass down. the bartender chuckled, and walked away to go over to someone else and ask them what they wanted. i turned around and looked at the crowd dancing.
and that's when i saw him. brown fluffy hair, black hoodie with saggy black ripped jeans. black vans with bright red socks. he walked through the crowd and whenever he bumped into someone he said, "sorry.. excuse me... forgive me, just tryna walk by." he was practically screaming it, so of course i heard it. he walked over to the bar table and sat down on a stool.
one seat away from me on my left.
the bartender ran over and smiled at him, the guy looked scared, it was his first time at a night club. (probably.)
"u-uh i'll have a.. root beer, please," he said, i silently laughed. he looked over at me and then quickly moved his eyes back to the table, noticing that i was laughing at him. (i wasn't trying to be mean.)
"well, those are for people who ar-" the bartender said, i grabbed my glass and i got up and walked over to the seat right next to the guy with fluffy hair.
"i got a root beer, why can't he?" i asked, the bartender laughed nervously.
"you have... a uh, medical problem," he said. i chuckled.
"i sure do, but can you please get this small child a root beer?" i said, it sounded stupid but i wasn't in the mood. the bartender gave me a dirty look and went over to grab a glass.
"u-uh thanks," the fluff said, i looked down at the new kid and his hair was so fluffy. i wish i had that, my hair was falling out. i would wake up and i would comb my hair and constantly i would pull out chunks.
"no problem, my name is josh, in case you're wondering," i said, he looked up at me and smiled.
"my name's tyler," i pulled out the chair right next to him. he looked at me, like he felt uncomfortable.
"that's an adorable name and is it okay if i sit by you?" i said/asked, he smiled and replied with a soft, "sure and thanks." we sat there, drinking our root beers, but then a green day song came on.
people were screaming and yelling and demanding for them to turn "good songs" on. i laughed, and tyler did too.
"you like green day?" i yelled, tyler took a sip of his drink and swallowed quickly.
"yeah," he yelled back. i looked at the dance floor, and then back down at him.
'you're gonna dance, and lungs.. you're gonna work.' i said to myself, i put out my hand and tyler cautiously took it. i pulled him up and i dragged him to the dance floor. everyone gave us dirty looks and i'm pretty sure they thought that we recommended the dj to play green day.
but i didn't care.
i dragged him through a giant crowd and we were in the middle, right in front of the dj 'station.'
i let go of his hand and i started to dance. my lungs felt weird but i tried to ignore the feeling. he stood there, not knowing what to do.
"dance!" i yelled, he shook his head. he blushed and started to walk backwards, he crossed his arms. "c'mon, you only live once!" i yelled louder and tyler uncrossed his arms. he walked towards me and together we danced like a couple of maniacs.
the song stopped and people around us were clapping and yelled, "that was pretty cool."
tyler and i walked out of the crowd and went back to the counter where our root beets were.
it started to get hard to breath, but i continued to ignore it. my lungs wouldn't ruin tonight.
but then all colors started to turn back and grey. i was gasping for air, everything slowed down and i looked around, throwing out my arms, reaching for something to hold onto.
"josh," kept repeating in my head. it was a soft voice, a voice that meant no harm.
everything went black and the last thing i heard was:
"i had fun, please don't g-"
