Your Light

I'm passing by the memories of the past years,

all the times I fought, shouted and shed tears.

Why?

None of it matters now.

So why did it matter then?

When it seems I'm going through the same situations over and over again.

Things that broke me last year, now only make me stronger.

When I thought that I wouldn't last much longer.

Every day I would say to myself...

Everything is just a matter of mind.

Not everyone will be caring or kind.

You are the only one who can let them make you feel bad.

You don't have to stay inside yourself, stop cowering, stop being so sad.

Others tell me "It's too hard!"

Yeah, it's hard, harder than staying in your room every day, cloaked in sadness and pain.

What will you ever achieve with that? What will you gain?

Nothing, except more sadness, more tearstained pillows.

You can do this,  I did. I stopped waiting around for the non-existent heroes.

I flew past all of my fears, sadness, and pain.

I had nothing to lose, and everything to gain.

Join me, fight your demons. I know you're tired.

That you were broken down, nothing left to be desired.

Get up, no matter how far down you have fallen. Get up.

Don't let the water be forcefully spilled from your cup.

You're strong inside still, you can win this fight.

Under all the grime, bruises, scrapes, and cuts, inside you, there is a bright light.

A light that shines true, a light that is pure and beautifully you.

So keep up the fight, let your light shine through with everything you do.

It will be hard, you will want to quit and go back to the start.

That's when you buckle down, give it your whole heart.

Even if you hit the ground, keep going, moving forward even if it's only inches.

Life will try to stop you with it's hardest punches.

Keep moving, let the bad wash over you, not into you.

You will make it through this, I wish you knew.

There will be days that will be dark, darker than any stormy night.

You will want to give up, to douse your light.

Brighter days are on their way, ones that will make all the darkness go away.

Maybe not forever, but long enough to bring back your will to keep up this fight.

You are the only one who can make sure your light keeps shining, and stays bright.

Throughout even the darkest stormy night.
