Chapter 14 :

Calum's POV

I'd messed up real good. Why did I have to kiss her? She probably doesn't even like me. Maybe I got the wrong message from her? I don't know, all I do know is that I messed up.

I think I did like Stephanie, there was something different about her that I just couldn't name, but now I knew she didn't like me. I should just give up on her.

I let out a loud groan as I threw my hands onto my face, then flung myself onto a bed. I didn't want to see anyone right now.

Stephanie's POV

"What happened?" Michael asked me as I sat on the living room couch.

"Nothing." I said, looking up into his eyes, hoping I looked confident.

"Your lips are slightly swollen... You were kissing Calum, weren't you?" Michael asked instantly, and I wanted to smack the boy for being so clever.

"Yes... Well no. It's complicated. Please don't bug me about it. I'm having a worse enough night already."

"Sorry... Do you wanna take a shower? Like to clean out the chlorine in your hair and to maybe de-stress yourself a little bit?" Michael asked me.

"Yes please, that would be amazing." I sighed out in relief. I could really go for a shower right now.

"C'mon, I'll get you a pair of Ashton's clothes. Then I'll help you turn on the shower." Michael spoke as he led me upstairs to the main bedrooms the boys slept in.

I got out of the shower, my hair smelled like fruit, but my body smelled like men's cologne. I didn't really mind though, at least I was clean.

I put on my underwear, then slipped on the t-shirt and sweatpants Michael had given me from Ashton's drawer. The t-shirt wasn't extremely long, it went just an inch below my hipbone.

Michael had also shown me a comb, which I then used to brush my hair. Once I finished that, I automatically felt my mood lighten knowing I was clean.

I left the bathroom and found my way back to the living room where Luke sat alone on the couch. I nervously walked over and sat next to him, but not getting too close.

"Calum is pretty upset... He won't let anyone into that extra bedroom. What happened with you two?" Luke said. He was obviously very worried about his best friend.

"Nothing. I'm sure he'll be fine," I smiled, trying to assure Luke that he shouldn't be worried.

"It's like five in the morning. I'm gonna go to sleep now. Nice meeting you Stephanie, goodnight... Or should I say goodmorning?" Luke's head split into a huge grin, and I couldn't help but smile too.

His smile was so nice. I could see why Marissa fangirled over it so much.

"Night Luke." I said, then laid down on the couch.

I didn't know where Michael was, but I knew that my body couldn't stay up any longer. I closed my eyes, trying to fall asleep.

I woke up, and heard clambering in the kitchen that was nextdoor to the living room. I didn't move though, I just laid on the couch with my eyes open. My ears were listening, trying to figure out who was in there.

"Awh Calum you're making me breakfast? Best friend ever!" I heard Luke's voice.

Calum was making breakfast.

"I'm making everyone breakfast." Calum then answered back.

I decided to lift my head up to glance at the kitchen. The back of this couch was facing the kitchen, so now the boys could finally see my head.

"Good morning Stephanie!" Luke sang out.

Calum just looked at my for a second, then flicked his eyes back down to the stove.

"Good morning Luke," I smiled a little. My feet kicked off the couch onto the hardwood flooring, then I stood up. I stretched, which made me yawn.

I felt a little sore from yesterday. That swimming had really taken a toll on my muscles.

I lazily walked over to the kitchen, next to Luke who was watching Calum expertly flip a pancake. I didn't really know what to do, as none of us were really friends, and this was my first time being over their house alone without Michael's guidance.

"Michael won't be up for awhile, he sleeps late, and Ashton went out to god knows where, so it's just us three." Luke spoke. I was guessing that was directed towards me, but I couldn't tell because he wasn't looking at me.

"Do you know how long you're staying over Stephanie?" Calum asked, shocking me a little bit.

"Uhm... I'll be here until about four."

"Perfect." Calum said, then turned off the stove. The food was done.

We'd finished eating, it wasn't as awkward as I had thought it would be. It was almost like Calum forgot what had happened yesterday. Maybe he was a little bit tipsy last night? I mean, he had drank a lot of that beer. I know it wouldn't get him extremely drunk but... It was possible that he was just a little bit on the drunk side.

Maybe he didn't mean to kiss me at all. That's probably why he's not acting like it happened.

All three of us had finished our food, and Luke left the table, leaving Calum. He wouldn't leave though, he just sat there, looking at me.

"Stephanie, come with me for a second." Calum said, extending his hand for me.

I took it without even thinking, and Calum helped my out of my chair, then dragged me outside onto the deck where the pool sat. He put me in a chair at the table that was there, then pulled another chair over so it was facing me. Calum sat in the chair that was facing me. It was so close that Calum and I's knees were brushing each others.

"Listen," He started as he grabbed my hands, laying them in my lap, "I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. I know I moved things along too quickly, I mean, I'd only just met you. I guess my hormones got the best of me." He chuckled.

"It's okay Calum." I said simply. I really didn't know what to say.

"Sorry if I freaked you out. It's just I think I like you... I don't know. I'm confusing myself."

I knew I had to make my move now, or else he'd move on.

"I like you too." I said quietly, but still staring into Calum's eyes, not wanting to look away.

His eyes lit up, and his mouth cracked into a smile, "Thank god. I didn't want to look like an idiot."

We sat there, just looking at each other in the sunlight for awhile, before Calum finally spoke again, "You wanna go out to like walk or something?"

I felt my heart pound, "I'd love to."

I couldn't believe Calum had basically asked me to go on a date. I know it wasn't much of a date, but it was still something... Right?

Calum smiled even bigger than I currently was, and he then reached forward and pecked me on the lips. My stomach erupted with butterflies and I knew my blood was racing through my veins.

"Sounds great. You'll probably want to change though." He laughed, and I looked down at my outfit. I still had Ashton's clothes on.

"All I have are the clothes I wore yesterday though..." I mumbled, and Calum stood up.

"It doesn't matter, just wear them."

"Okay."

"Come get me when you're ready. I'll be in the living room waiting for you." Calum said, walking back inside.

I stayed out here for a couple more minutes, thinking out everything that had just happened. Calum had kissed me and asked me out with only knowing me for a day. Was he really that confident that I'd be a good girlfriend for him?

Oh well, I was going to hang out with Calum Hood! I couldn't be worried about anything, I should be thankful.

I quickly went into the house, changing back into my clothes I had on yesterday night.

Calum and I left the LA house, since he didn't really have a car to drive, we were stuck to walking.

His hands were in his pockets, he was wearing black skinny jeans, a singlet, and a snapback. The thing about Calum was that he could make any simple outfit look slightly elegant.

"So..." I said.

"Sooooo...." Calum dragged out even longer.

"Wanna play 20 questions?" I asked, figuring it would give us something to do.

"Sure, you ask first."

"What's your favorite color?" I decided to start off simply.

"Blue. How many siblings do you have?"

"Three. What type of girls are like... 'Your type'?" I asked.

"Uhm... Well I personally like brunettes, and... Uh, someone who's like laid back and quite girly. But mostly they just have to have an amazing personality."

I wasn't sure if I exactly fit that description, but if Calum liked me, I probably do.

"So, are you a virgin?" Calum asked, making my heart leap.

I stayed silent for a couple seconds before I decided to answer. It wouldn't hurt me if I answered this, I mean what would he do? Dump me because I'd never had sex with anyone before?
He couldn't dump me at all, we weren't even dating.

"Yeah, what about you?" I spoke out, my voice shaky.

"Me too. What do YOU look for in a guy?" Calum asked, glancing towards me.

"I don't really have a type..."

"How do you NOT have a type?! You have to like SOME certain type of boys!" Calum laughed.

"I guess I like guys with blue eyes and black hair..." I mumbled, deciding to be honest with Calum, "They can be like sporty, artsy, whatever they want as long as they're nice."

"I guess I need blue colored contacts now!" Calum joked around, making me giggle.

My phone then rang, and I looked at the caller ID. Marissa.

"Hello?" I answered, mouthing 'sorry' to Calum.

"Stephanie! Are you alright? I just thought I'd tell you something! Did you see the pictures of that girl climbing through 5SOS's LA hours window? They have a girl over there!" Marissa blabbered on, and I felt my heart drop.

"Really? That's terrible! Gah I just hope she doesn't date-" I cut myself off. I couldn't say this in front of Calum, but I had to, "My boy! I'll be pissed!"

"I know! She better not touch Luke either! I'll beat her ass if she does!" Marissa laughed.

"Are you at lunch?" I asked, Calum was trying to hear what Marissa was saying.

"Yeah, where are you?"

"Oh I'm just walking around town. But listen, I really have to go right now. Sorry, bye!" I said, hanging up on her instantly.

"Who was that?" Calum asked.

"My best friend, Marissa."

"Who's dating who? Who's your 'boy'?" Calum continued firing questions at me, referring to my reference of him.

"She was talking about the pictures she saw of me sneaking into the LA house. She didn't know it was me though, so she blew up about how if the girl touched Luke she'd beat her ass in." I said.

Calum just laughed, "That won't be happening so she's not gonna be beating anyone's ass in!"

"Thankfully..." I mumbled, and Calum then pulled my arm, dragging me into a small shop.

It was filled with teenage boys' clothing, but alltogether it was a cute little shop.

"I'm going to be buying Luke a new beanie." Calum said, going over to the hats.

He looked at the beanies, and decided on a plain red one, thinking it would go good with Luke's hair. I had to admit it actually would look very good on Luke.

Calum bought it, then we were off an walking again, talking about our lives. The only thing I noticed was that after about thirty minutes of walking, Calum seemed to be a little bit uncomfortable.

I couldn't explain how he looked or acted.... It was just weird.

When we finally got back to the LA house, it was around three in the afternoon. I had spent about four hours with my favorite guy in the entire world. I felt so lucky!

"You guys are back!" Michael yelled, running up to us as Calum and I walked through the front door.

"Hi Michael," I laughed.

Calum walked away without saying anything, and Michael got closer to me, "Are you guys like... Dating now?" He whispered into my right ear.

"I'm pretty sure... Yeah."

I saw some type of emotion flash in Michael's eyes, but I couldn't tell what it was. All I could say was that it wasn't a good flash of emotion.

"Well... It's almost four. You want Ashton to drop you off at your house now?" Michael asked.

"Sure, I have all the stuff I've brought..." I mumbled, bags I'd brought were in my hand from the walk.

I brought them just in case Calum ended up walking me home. I don't know why I thought he would've done that, but it seemed reasonable to me at the time.

"ASHTON! GET DOWN HERE YOU'RE TAKING STEPHANIE-" Michael was cut off as Ashton came into view.

"Yeah yeah! I heard you!" Ashton snapped, and when he looked at me, his eyes squinted. It looked like he was analyzing me, "C'mon, let's go."

I followed Ashton out the door, into a car. I suggested it wasn't actually his... Probably a rental for while they were here.

While Ashton was driving out of the driveway, I saw Michael waving to me from the front door. I felt butterflies in my stomach as I smiled, and waved back.

About two minutes into the ride, Ashton finally spoke, "So, you indeed ARE dating Calum?" Ashton asked, keeping his eyes on the road.

"Yeah," I mumbled, not appreciating his rough tone of voice.

"Figures... You'll probably be all over Luke next," Ashton said, muttering the last part to the point where I could barely understand it.

But I still had heard it.

"Excuse me?" I said, looking at Ashton with disbelief. How the fuck could he say that?

"Nothing." Ashton said, sitting up straighter in his seat.

"Don't do this, explain to me what you just fucking said!"

"I'm not gonna, and get out of my car. We're at your house." He said as he braked the car in the middle of the street.

"So much for you being known as the nice one in the band..." I said as I opened the car door.

"What did you just say?" Ashton yelled at me, but I didn't even flinch.

"Nothing! I said bye!" I made an innocent face, then left the car, not bothering to shut the door.

When I finally laid in my bed, I muttered to myself, "Today has been eventful," before I drifted off to sleep.
