Chapter 33

I walked out the school doors quickly, not wanting to stay in that hell-hole any longer.

The wind blew my hair around as I made my way to the sidewalk, but I heard someone calling out my name. I froze, then turned to look behind me.

"Stephanie!" I saw an unfamiliar girl running towards me.

"Yeah?" I answered once she was in front of me.

"Are you really dating Calum? Calum Hood, I mean." The girl asked, her big blue eyes widening.

"Um, no?"

Seriously?

"But there are all these pictures I've seen on Twitter and-" I cut her off.

"Those pictures are old." I said harshly, turning around and walking away.

I didn't feel like hormonal teenage girls asking me about the boys. About four people had talked to me today, and tried to become my friend. I found it funny how they thought that them being friends with me would make 5SOS like them.

I kicked a rock as I continued walking down the sidewalk, taking out my phone to text Michael.

really fucking hate school rn

He answered back almost immediantly.

why?

people keep asking about you and the boys and its rlly irritating...

im sorry ):

I rolled my eyes, not talking to Michael anymore. I didn't like complaining to him, and I felt guilty because he was probably blaming himself for this.

In all honesty, it was my fault for not being careful. I guess I had never really thought about how fans in school would act with me if they saw me with Michael. I only thought about the girls on Twitter, which were living up to what I thought of them.

"Meghan, just stay with me for a minute and shut up. If you tell dad or mom I met up with Michael, then I'll find a way to make your life a living hell." I threatened, walking through a park with my little sister.

Michael had something to tell me, but he insisted on meeting up. He wanted to, "see my face in real life" again. I swear, sometimes he's such a loser

"Fine. But you're taking me out for frozen yogurt after." Meghan grumbled, crossing her arms.

I told my parents that I was taking Meghan for a walk, and that's what Meghan had thought we were doing. She's stupid to think that I'd actually take a walk with her.

"Keep your eyes peeled for a boy with black and red hair." I said to Meghan, fixing my own purple hair.

"You mean like him?" Meghan pointed at Michael who was leaning against a tree.

Not just any tree, our tree.

The tree where we had had our first kiss, where Michael and I had met up. It was also the tree where Michael had comforted me.

"That's him!" I exclaimed, staring at Michael.

He looked badass. He had on black skinny jeans, a black t-shirt, and an unbuttoned plaid shirt over it. To top it off, he had on black combat boots with black sunglasses.

"He looks emo." Meghan said, obviously not aware of what she was saying.

"Don't say that to him. Just shut up and be polite." I hissed quietly as we came closer to Michael.

He noticed us, and smiled at me.

"Hey Michael, this is Meghan, my little sister." I smiled.

"Hi Meghan." Michael smiled at my little sister, and she just glared at him.

"Go away and play or something while I'm talking to Michael." I said to my sister, and she gladly ran away.

Michael instantly pulled me in for a kiss as soon as Meghan turned around.

"The boys and I are having a party at the LA house with different youtubers and their friends, a couple of ours too." Michael said when he finally pulled away.

"This Saturday, I'm guessing?"

"Yeah, around ten." Michael nodded.

"I might be able to. I know that my grandma is staying the weekend at my house, and that means no going over any friends' houses." I shrugged, getting slightly sad.

Michael smirked, "We could always sneak you out."

I giggled, "That sounds fun, actually!"

"Good, then you're coming. We'll sort this out Friday night." Michael said, giving me a short kiss.

Instead of doing anything else, Michael pulled me in for a hug, my head reasting on his shoulder as he rocked us gently from side to side.

"I don't want to leave LA. I want to stay here with you. I don't have much of a family back home. You and the boys are the only family I actually have." Michael said, his voice sounding strained.

I knew exactly what he meant. He did have family that were alive, it's just that they didn't do anything for him. They were mean.

"Michael..." I said quietly, and he pulled away. I saw him wipe under his eyes. He had cried a bit, but you couldn't tell.

He smiled, trying to act like I hadn't just seen him cry.

"I love you." Michael said, bringing me back in for another hug.
