Sitting in the arm chair in the corner of the family room I stare blankly at the wall, ignoring the bunch of guys and girls bumping and grinding together as I drink away my sorrows. 5 years... 5 goddamn years without my little sister and we've all spiralled out of control, well I suppose she wouldn't be so little round about now, I muse silently as I take a large gulp of my beer. I spend my time sulking and brooding whilst drinking away my days with any type of alcoholic beverages I can find. As for Phoenix, well... he's completely lost his shit. He's constantly angry, he suffers with depression and when he isn't shouting and threatening people, he's shutting himself away from society, most nights he screams out for Raelyn, begging for her not to leave him, for her to stay with him. It saddens me to know that my best friend and brother, is suffering and there's nothing I can do to heal him, at the beginning I tried getting him to talk about it, but mentioning Raelyns name is like pouring salt into a mans open, raw wounds. It still burns him. Drifting further into my thoughts I think about my little brother Benji, now 15 he's known around these parts as ticker for his short temper. We all knew that as he grew his temper would get worse, but we wasn't prepared for the amount of times the school would ring or the times one of us would have to go pick him up from jail, he's still a minor but he still gets shoved in a holding cell. At the moment he doesn't do anything too bad which I'm grateful for, we can barely handle him right now, there's only one person that could keep him in line which was Raelyn. Now she's gone, everyone's world is crumbling...
It's almost funny how a single person can affect so many people's lives. I'm broken out of my thoughts by the music from the stereo being muted. "Really Bear?" I hear Crimson exclaim, looking up I spot Bear standing by the doorway near the stereo with a rare smile on his face. "Yes, really. Where's Phoenix? And the boys?" He asks and I clear my throat, "Phoenix is upstairs sleeping I'm guessing and Benji and Tyler are on their way back from Josh's" I say taking one last swig of my warm beer before setting the empty bottle on the table. Bear nods before responding. "Alright, everyone who isn't patched, leave" he orders and most of the girls make their way out of the room and out of the compound leaving me, Crimson, Shades, Keyz and Bear. It's silent for a moment before Bear speaks up. "Alright, well lads. I've got a surprise for ya" he says with a grin and Crimson huffs, "it's not a bunch of slappers is it? Phoenix lost his shit last time and I don't have the energy to deal with his crazy depressed ass tonight" he says cringing obviously remembering the last time Phoenix lost his temper, left me with a black eye, Shades with a black eye and bruised ribs and Crimson with a broken nose. Me and the rests of the guys chuckle lowly at the sour look on his face. "No Crimson, it's not. Although it is someone's we all missed rather dearly, Ameryis, will you come joins us" he calls out and my brows furrow in confusion, Ameryis? Where have I heard that before? I hear movement from the hallway and suddenly I can't believe my eyes...I suck in a breath as I rise shakily from my chair. "Raelyn?" I ask cautiously. She drops her duffle bag with a thud before locking eyes with me. "Hey Colton" she says. This girl looks like Raelyn, speaks like Raelyn but doesn't act like Raelyn... Her eyes are harder, colder then before. Pushing thoughts and questions from my mind I rush forward ignoring the way she tenses as if ready to fight of an opponent. I engulf her in a tight hug, which she doesn't return, but it's okay, it's okay because I have my little sister back, at least for a little while. "Oh my god, you're really here. You've come back! God I've missed you little sis" I whisper and give her one last squeeze before releasing her. I see something similar to sadness flash through her eyes before it disappears, only to be replaced with a blank, emotionless stare. I go to ask her where she's been all this time, why she hasn't contacted us, or let us know how she's been, but I don't get the chance. Suddenly there's a small commotion coming from the hallway just before a dark brown haired boy walks in with a blonde boy following right behind him, I notice how Raelyn steps back a couple steps almost as if she doesn't want to be seen. Spotting the black eye and bloody nose my temper rises. "What the fuck Benji? What did I tell ya about getting in fights? You're gonna end up getting yourself killed!" I shout stepping in front of my little brother. "Oh shut up Colton, like you never got into fights when you were my age" Benji snorts sarcastically and I grind my teeth together. "No Benji, I didn't, you know why? Because a life is not something to throw away and that's exactly what your fucking doing! Being this reckless is gonna get you in trouble with the wrong fucking person and that's what is gonna get your ass killed and then your gonna be six feet under before you even turn 16!" I snap but he just shakes his head and laughs. "Why don't YOU shut the fuck u-" "you finish that sentence boy and I'll knock your ass seven ways to Sunday kid! Who the fuck do you think you are talking to your older brother like that!" Raelyn barks and the room goes eerily quiet. Benji's face pales as he turns his attention toward the girl, now a woman who protected and raised him since the day he was born. Tears fill his eyes as he stares at her. "You apologise to your brother right now Benjiman Lee Sennitt" she demands and he gasps quietly hearing her use his full name. "N-no one calls me that anymore Raelyn" he stutters out trying to act brave. She rolls her eyes and snorts. "Yeah and I haven't been called Raelyn in five years but I have to deal with it whilst I'm here so suck it up" she says and he casts his eyes down. He sniffles lightly and shakes his head before running out the room, his footsteps as he runs up the stairs echoes throughout the compound, I go to chase after him but Raelyns voice stops me in my tracks. "Leave him. He may be older but he's still the same little boy I raised for 10 years. He needs some time to himself, when he's ready he'll come to me" she says softly and I nod. " R-R-Raelyn?" Tyler's broken whisper stretches around the quiet room and our heads snap towards him, I hear Raelyn let out a gasp as we face a broken looking Tyler, he stands there with tears shimmering in those ice blue eyes of his, the tears spill onto his cheeks as the 14 year old tries to hold back a heart breaking sob. Something flashes in Raelyns eyes and my eyes widen as she opens her arms to the soft hearted teenager. Ty rushes into her awaiting arms and sobs into her neck, by now he's roughly the same height as her if not a bit taller, but he somehow looks smaller in my sisters embrace. "Shhh bud, shh it's alright" I hear her soothe, me and Bear lock eyes and he nods towards the door, I nod in agreement and gesture for Shades and Crimson to follow us out the door, leaving Raelyn to comfort Ty, the little boy who till this day, has always thought of her as a mother...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
