Castor Cruz

Alex stood across from me. I pulled the players towards me sharply as the ball rolled.

I scored again. I grinned. Alex groaned, "Why are you so good at this game?"

"I beat you every time, kid," I winked and walked over to sit on my bed. It was Alex's friends' designated bed for whenever a guy stayed here. Alex had the small house all to himself in the backyard and only ever went to the mansion when there were guests, for meals and if he was sick.

The door burst open, making me jump on the bed. Alex looked up expectantly from the foosball table. Zoe looked around wildly before her eyes landed on me. She gulped in air and then shouted, "She's sick again... I s-saw her coming out of the bathroom. Sh-she didn't w-want you... to know."

I narrowed my eyes and stood up, "Leila was sick? As in vomiting?"

Zoe nodded quickly.

I cursed under my breath, "F***."

I picked up my phone and dialled Lucy, putting her on speaker as I ran for the mansion, Alex hot on my tail. Lucy picked up on the second ring, "Cruz? Aren't you in Queensland?"

"Yes," I answered, bursting through the back door of the mansion, startling Mum, Aunt Isabella and Uncle Sam, "It's Leila again."

I bounded for the stairs up to the third floor. Mum shouted, "Cast?!"

I turned violently back to Mum, "It's Leila, Mum!"

She got the hidden message quickly, "C***."

Lucy shouted, "Did she do it again?!"

"Yes, Lucy!" I said into the phone, "She f****** puked again!"

I raced up to the third floor with a bunch of people behind me. Steph was standing over Leila worriedly with Sera. Steph shook Leila's limp body, "Leila! Wake up!"

I skidded to Leila and pulled out the phone, putting it on the ground, "Lucy, she's fainted again!"

Lucy swore like a sailor and Steph squeaked.

"Lucy!"

Lucy sighed loudly, "Do what you did last time, Cruz?!"

"What about the next time? And the next time?! This isn't going to stop, Lucy!"

I thrust my phone to Steph and picked up Leila, running her into Steph's bedroom and placing her down on top of the gold sheets. I turned back. Everyone was standing in Steph's room - either confused, angry, or upset. Mum sat down on the floor against the wall, "What did you do last time, Cast?"

"Lucy, I'll deal with it!"

"Fine, Cruz, but make sure you do or I'm calling for professional help!"

Lucy hung up and Steph looked down at the phone in her hands.

I racked my brain for what Alexandra had shouted at me to do. I quickly turned to Alex, "She's going to need a cup of tea."

He raced out of the room. Steph asked, "I-is there any-nything I can do?"

"Glass of cold water," I answered.

What was the last thing? I paced the room multiple times trying to remember before Aunt Isabella murmured, "I'll get her some warm soup."

"Thanks," I sighed and sat down on the floor, my head in my hands.

I thought we'd dealt with it.

I should have known when Leila was fidgeting on her suitcase this morning. And when she didn't eat much of her breakfast on the plane.
