Castor Cruz

SHE WAS IN MY FREAKING BEDROOM IN NOTHING BUT A T-SHIRT AND UNDERPANTS! COULD SHE GET ANY CUTER? But suddenly my thoughts were interrupted by the thoughts of her vomiting.

I stepped closer to her, as if to protect her, put my hands on her shoulders and said, "So we're even now?"

"Definitely," I could just see her smirk in the little moonlight.

I wrapped my arms around her, "Please don't scare me ever again..."

She tucked her forehead against the crook of my neck, "I'll try."

"I need your best, Barbie."

She looked up at me with wide eyes, "I will," she corrected.

"Good," I murmured.

My eyes trailed down to her lips, centimetres from mine. I barely remembered the kiss from the panic attack. Somehow, I could now stand being next to her and it didn't send me full on psycho, only partially.

What I did remember from the kiss was sweetness and warmth.

Leila smiled gently, "Are you going to kiss me or what?"

I chuckled softly and my lips moved down to meet hers.

*****

I woke up early the next morning and changed into jeans and a leather jacket. I headed straight to Leila's and into the kitchen, making scrambled eggs and bacon rashers. I was just plating up when I heard a scream. A long, loud piercing scream.

I rushed upstairs and burst into her room. Leila was sleeping so peacefully in her bed. Her phone was letting out high pitch noises. I picked it up and watched the messages flow through from an unknown number.

Bitch, stay away from the fashion shoot.

UR2 ugly to be in this.

Can U seriously even compare URself to us?

Fat teen.

U dont deserve to have Lucy as an agent.

Leila and Cruz? Is that some sort of publicity stunt?

He's too hot for U.

Just stay away from the fashion shoot and it will be worth it.

I screenshotted the number, sent it to myself, and then deleted the messages, the screenshot and blocked the number. I placed the phone down and walked slowly back down to the kitchen. Of course that's why Leila acted out yesterday. Those models were being serious b******.

*****

I called Lucy after Leila had eaten her breakfast. I called from the patio while Nerd watched Gilmore Girls.

"Lucy?"

"Cruz," she sighed, "How's my muffin?"

Right, Leila. I groaned, "Better I guess... She's eating. But, uh, can I send something to you?"

"Of course."

She hung up on me and I forwarded her the screenshot.

Lucy typed back immediately: I'm going to have to pull Leila out of the show.

She'll be crushed, Lucy!

I can give her an even bigger campaign to throw it in their faces.

Like what? VS is the biggest there is.

No it isn't.

Then what is it?

Louis Vuitton.

I stared at the reply for a long time before typing numbly: You're serious?

Black.

I chuckled a little at that one and typed: She'll love it. But I'll check first.

If I don't hear from you in five minutes I'm cancelling Leila anyway from the show. We can't have this spread to the public.

I entered the living room to see Leila scooping Nutella out of a tub with her fingers. She groaned, "I haven't had food this good in a looooong time!"

I raised an eyebrow at her and she poked her tongue out at me.

I murmured, "I just spoke to Lucy."

"I figured," she blushed, "I heard the conversation on the phone. So what's the screenshot?"

I studied her. How was she so smart?

I reluctantly pulled out my phone and showed her.

She wrinkled her nose but didn't say anything. She just set down her Nutella.

I shook my head, "If you want that Nutella, then eat it."

Leila gulped, glanced to the Nutella and restarted scooping it out of the tub.

I murmured, "It's not true you know."

"Yeah, sure..."

"You're the most beautiful girl on the planet, and yes, I've said that twice, because it is a fact," I said strictly, "Those girls have eating disorders and I don't want you to develop one, they also have egos the size of Jupiter, which you obviously and amazingly don't have, and finally they're b******. The only models I've met apart from you are Taylor and Romee, and they only had half the politeness you do, but twice the politeness of the others from what I can see of these text messages."

She stared at me, speechless. She finally squeaked, "That's why I like you..."

I finally sighed, "Scroll down."

Leila's attention went back to my phone and she read the messages slowly, her face contorting into a mixture of reactions until... "Louis Vuitton! No. Freaking. Way."

She squealed, looking up at me, "That's so much better than Victoria's Secret!"

"Good," I said, looking down at my watch, "Because we hung up on each other six minutes ago."

She grinned as her phone promptly rang.
