Castor Cruz

The music blared through my eardrums. Fall Out Boy should do more of this, I thought to myself. My little sister Zoe ran straight to the door, "Mummy, can I open it? Please, please, please."

I smirked. I remember being five and finding the pleasure in using the keys to open the front door.

"Sure, Zoe," my mum grinned and gave her the key. Her clammy fingers pushed it into the keyhole. After a few tries, she gave up on what to do from there. I sighed, impatiently waiting.

My mum threw a glare at me as she easily twisted the knob and the door opened.

I picked up my duffel bag again, pulled my suitcase with that hand and then had a box under the other arm. The removalists would be here soon with my bed, desk and drawers of clothes. I looked around the first floor. Basic living room, kitchen, dining room, back patio and bathroom. I went upstairs, Zoe trying to keep up with me. She squealed, "Ooh! Look! A bay window!"

She ran to the small couch that was hidden in the windowsill. Cute for a five-year-old. She called, "Castor! Our neighbours are really pretty!"

"Whatever," I chuckled at her, "I know lots of pretty girls."

"Yeah," she rolled her eyes at me, "But this girl could be in a magazine."

That kind of pretty? I sighed rudely and dropped my box and duffel bag and suitcase on the ground. I unplugged my headphones and walked to the bay window. Sure enough, a girl was walking towards the window adjacent, her eyes focused on the floor. She had long blonde hair, a slender figure and was quite tanned. Her face was buried in a maths textbook. I let out a low whistle, "Whoa."

She was in skinny jeans, Converse and a baggy Vans top but I could imagine that she had a good body under the baggy shirt. I mentally slapped myself. I'm sixteen. I'm supposed to be laying off the girls and settling down.

My player period is over.

I rubbed my sister's ginger hair, "She is pretty. But you must never repeat that."

Zoe giggled like an idiot as I picked my stuff back up and ventured into one of the empty bedrooms. I dumped my stuff and heard the truck reversing outside. I hurried downstairs and started grabbing stuff to put my room together.

I opened my wardrobe and shoved my heavy drawers in. Thinking about it, I should have taken the drawers out whilst I carried the dresser up the stairs... Oh well, it makes up for missing footy practice.

I stuffed the rest of my clothes in and took the shoes out of my duffel bag to put them on top of my dresser.

This wardrobe was twice the size of my old one, so now I had spare space on the other side. I turned and opened my empty suitcase. I took out all my DVDs, Video Games, Books, Textbooks, everything and tried to organise them on my desk. I put my laptop on my desk too. Now I just had to put my bed together.

Within ten minutes I was lost on how to put wooden planks on the bed. Yeah, you heard me right.

I heard a small giggle and looked to the door, "Zoe?"

"Nah, over here," a different voice said.

I looked to the window at the blonde. She gave me a once-over. I was used to that. I smirked at the pretty girl. Too bad she was half hidden underneath an oversized hoodie so I couldn't see the top half of her face. She grinned, "Do you know how to put a bed together?"

I could have made a sexual innuendo out of that... "No, but I know how to get together in a bed?" I cracked a smirk.

She scowled, "Funny," though there was no trace of humour in her voice, "Do you want me to help you?"
