Chapter Nine

*Rebecca's POV*

"I can't talk now, Rebecca is still sleeping." I heard Kayla say. I turned to face her and she had her phone in front of her face. "Who are you talking to?" I asked her. "Is that Rebecca? Is that Rebecca?" I heard Mikey say. Mikey? Wait, what? "Is that Mikey?" She looked at me and gave me a nervous smile. "Yeah...." Her voice trailed off. "Mikey move over. Kayla are you still there?" I heard Vinny say. "Yeah I'm still here.. one second guys." She came and sat on the foot of my bed. "I put them on pause and mute. I'm facetiming with Vinny and Mikey was there. Mikey was asking for you, you know?" My heart leaped. "Really? But why are you facetiming? It's too early." I put my pillow on top of my face. "No it's not early... it's twelve in the afternoon!" I jumped up from my bed and ran to look at the clock which was across the room. "Oh my god. It is twelve! I'm just glad the party is at five." I went back to the bed and unplugged my phone from the charger. I picked up my charger and it wasn't even plugged in and my phone was dead. "Oh great." I mumbled to myself. "I'm hungry. Where's my aunt?"

"She left to get last minute things for the party and she went to pick up Nora from the airport." Nora is my older cousin. She is sixteen years old. She fairly tall and very tan. She has brown hair and brown eyes. She was in California for a week visiting some friends. "Oh okay. Wait! You still have Vinny and Mikey on facetime?"

"Holy shit! I forgot!" She ran to her phone. "Do you want to talk to them?" Should I? "Okay, but only for a little." She unmuted them and unpaused them. "Hey. Sorry. I had to.... get something." I walked over to her and looked at her phone without putting my face in the screen. I saw Mikey in a black t shirt... his hair was with his signature spikes and he had a serious face on. I wanted to talk to him but he makes me nervous for some reason. "So what are you doing?" Vinny asked. "Nothing. Rebecca's aunt isn't home. Party!" They both laughed with Kayla. I noticed that Mikey has dimples. He's so cute.. "Is Rebecca still there?" Mikey asked and Kayla looked at me. I nodded that it was okay. "Yeah, she's here." I appeared on the screen of Kayla's iPhone and I can see Mikey smiling threw the pillow that was in front of him. "Hey guys!" I said to them. "Hey Rebecca!" They both said."Can I call you Becca? It sounds better." Vinny said which made me laugh really hard. "Of course you can! Or Becky or Becks! Everyone calls me those nicknames!" I said as Mikey removed the pillow from his face and laid down. "I'll call you Becca! What are you girls doing?" Vinny asked. "Nothing so bored!" Kayla and I said at the same time. "Jinx!!" Vinny said and we all laughed. Ring ring, ring ring. "Mikey it's your phone," Vinny said. "And it's Montana..." Mikey grabbed his phone ans stormed out of the room. "Who's Montana?" I asked. Vinny looked a little uncomfortable. "Montana is Mikey's ex girlfriend, They've been talking A LOT recently." Vinny said which made me feel sad. I didn't expect to be anything else with Mikey, but I like him... A LOT. "Becca, what's wrong?" Vinny asked. "She kind of likes Mikey." Vinny's frown turned into a huge smile. "Really? He likes her too!" "If he likes me, why is her talking to his-" "Oh hey Mikey!" Vinny said to give me a warning that meant he came back into the room. "Guys, we got to go. We are busy today. Bye!" I said and ended the FaceTime call. Jerk. I thought. I looked at the clock again and it was three already. "Kayla, we have to start to get ready for the party." I said and walked over to my closet and looked through the dresses I took with me. "Are you okay?" "Yeah of course. He's just a boy. We aren't even friends. I'm fine." I lied. I'm not fine, I'm hurt.

Mikey's POV*

"What did she want?" Vinny asked me. "Nothing she needed to ask me something." "What? To get back to you?" I would've normally blushed at a remark like that, but I didn't. "No. She asked me for Nicolette's number." Vinny looked kind of mad at me. I wonder what happened when I left the room. "You guys have been talking a lot recently." He said. I knew he was right. I thought I was getting me feelings back for Montana, but than I met Rebecca and they kind of left. But some feelings are still there. "Mikey, are you going to come with us?" "Where are you going?" I asked Vinny. "To a party. My neighbor invited Bianca, Alessandra, my mom and I. You can come if you want. It's a 'Just Because Party'. She lives next door to us."

"Sure. I'll go. But are you sure it's okay if I come? What time does it start?" I said looking at the time on my iPhone. "It starts at five. So in two hours."

"Okay, I'll text my mom." I took out my phone and texted my mom..

-Hey mom. Can I go with the Castronovo's to a house party? It's next door-

-Sure. But text me or call me if you are going anywhere else. ok?-

-Ok mom! Thanks!

"My mom said I can go. So is what I'm wearing okay for the party?" I said looking at myself in his mirror. I was wearing a black V-neck tshirt and dark blue basketball shorts. "No. You can borrow something from me." Vinny said. "Okay." He handed me black jeans and a white button up shirt. "Here. Wear these." He headed towards his window and I went next to him. "See? That's our neighbor that's hosting the party in a little bit." He said as he pointed to the lady that was opening the door with a teenaged girl that had a suitcase next to her. "Hey Nora!" Vinny said. She looked up at us and waved back. "Hey Vinny. See you later?" She said. "Yup. Did your cousin make it?" She nodded. "Yup. Got here two days ago. She'll be here for the party. See you later!" Nora said. "Who's her cousin?" I asked him. "She told me two weeks ago that her younger cousin was staying with her and her mom for the summer. I think she said her cousin was thirteen?"

*Rebecca's POV*

Someone knocked on my door and it was Nora. I screamed and ran to her. We both hugged and she said hi to Kayla. "I missed you so much!" She told me. "I missed you too!" "Guess who's going to be the DJ at the party tonight?" She smirked. "You?" I asked. "Yes! I convinced my mom!" She said, "And you both will meet all the cute teenaged boys that live around here. Actually one lives right next door. His name is Vinny."
