"College? It's barely the beginning of July, and you already are thinking about college?!" Katelyn exclaimed, her intense blue eyes meeting mine. "You aren't even a senior!"
I chuckled, resting my hand on my sandy knee. Our towels were covered in sand, as we sat down. The moonlight shone on our wet backs, starting to dry off the ocean's salty water.
"I know, but I want to be a vet Katelyn!" I told eagerly. She nodded, though didn't really respond for a moment.
A comforting silence fell between us, as the waves rolled peacefully. I was beyond groggy, as the sun started to rise over the shore. Katelyn was into this, staying up late and going out early- I had no idea how she functioned properly like this.
Her hand inched towards mine as we sat, her pinky brushing against mine. I could feel my face grow a bit red, as we grasped our hands together.
I looked into her eyes, and that same old sad smile came back. I couldn't help but smile back.
"Hey Katelyn, do you like anyone?" I asked her, my voice barely above a murmur.
"Yes I do actually.. It's funny you ask, since you probably know her best,"
