Link pulled away to take a better look at you, caressing your face as he wiped the tears from your cheeks, "Where have you been all these years? I looked for you, but..."
"I-I know. I didn't want to be found." You glanced down at the reminder of your departure.
A light pink dusted his face as he rubbed the back of his head, "You look... agh... You look even more... beautiful than the day you left."
It was your turn to blush at his statement with a smile, so you returned the compliment, "You've done some maturing as well. It's a good look. You've lost all your baby fat." As you looked at him more, you could tell he had truly grown. Even his muscles could be seen beneath his clothes. The female intuition in you knew Link had probably seen similar differences in you, making you blush an even brighter pink.
Link saw the change in color and chuckled, trying to change the subject, "What are you doing here? I thought I'd never see you again!"
Your heart skipped a beat at his question, and you took in a deep breath, "Well I was in the area, and got kinda curious. I wanted to see what Ordon was like after all this time."
Link's brow knitted at your response, not buying it for a second, "Why are you here, really?"
"Like I said... I've missed you, and... I think I owe you a lot." You had to avoid his gaze again as the guilt came back.
He shrugged his shoulders as he spoke aloud his thoughts, "Well when you left, I thought... I thought it was something I did, or said..."
"No! Nothing like that! It was all me!" A harsh flashback streaked across your mind of you taking off early in the morning, setting out for god knows where. You cleared your throat, You didn't like the way the subject was moving.
"All you huh?" Link paused for a few long moments, shuffling about and bitting his lip as he tried to think of the right words, "Do you know how many nights I couldn't sleep because of what you did? What was it that made you think you could walk out on me like that!?"
You knew this part of the conversation would come up eventually. Though you had dreaded it more than anything, your thoughts spewed out of you mouth rapidly at the bitterness in his voice, "We were young then, Link! Young and foolish, we didn't even get the chance to know what we really wanted!"
"I know what I wanted... I wanted you! And you left me... why?"
"I needed to figure out what I wanted!" You clutched at your chest where your heart was, trying to figure out the best way of explaining yourself, "I'm still wandering in that area of life... In many ways you're the wiser among us... I still have much growing to do."
Link's eyes went wide at your statement, "I'm the wiser? You know that's not true, ___... What was it, really?"
Disorderly panic started to eat at your lies as you desperately tried to maneuver around Link's incredible ability to decipher your thoughts, "That's it! Really! I didn't know what I wanted, so I went to look for it!... I'm sorry if I hurt you because of that." That part of your statement was true. You really were sorry for what you had done, and had hoped Link would see it the same way, but he didn't.
"Hurt me!? ___, it devastated me! I didn't know what to think! While the world, and our friends changed... They aged, right before my eyes! And I stayed young, well I aged a little, but I didn't know if you were like me or them!" He shuffled uneasily in his place as he let his emotions flow freely, bringing back old pains, "I didn't know if you were dead or old or... They're all gone, ___! Groose, Pipit... Everything has changed, and I had hoped you would be at my side to bear that burden! But you left... And the only thing I had to remember you was the note you left me, and... I just would have liked to know why before you disappeared." He grabbed your face gently when you looked away, pulling your gaze back at his.
