Author's Note: Just a bit before I begin. I'm sorry if any of you are disappointed in the choice of animal, but it really couldn't be helped. If you're that picky, imagine you're something else but hear me out. I chose the fox because of it's perfect association with this story! In many cultures, the fox is a symbol of femininity and twilight/night. Physical, and mental acuity. Cunning, sees deceptions easily because it is a trickster (hence the lying to Link and secrets about Ghirahim). Always finds a way out of tricky situations. Very much associated with the creative dream world and (strangely) dark magic. Perfect!! Ghirahim communicates with you in the dream world, and is a wielder of dark magic! Anyway, I hope you like my impersonations of you as a fox. I tried to capture different emotions that we use. I personally use the 'stink eye' a lot! (The middle one) :)
Thump thump...... thump thump...... thump thump...... Your slow and steady heartbeat. The first thing you could remember. The first thing you could feel. Finally conscious of the smells you were breathing in, your nose caught many scents within the first minute; rust, iron, damp stone, musty water, mold, hay, mice, feces, wolf, blood. Wolf!? Blood!? You could smell blood! Your breathing drew in rapidly as your eyes shot open. The cold grey of the walls and floor, mixed with the harsh black of the iron bars told you what you needed to know. You were in a dungeon. A very distorted dungeon none the less. Everything was huge! At least 10 times the size of a normal one.
You were so focused on your surroundings that you barely noticed how fast you were breathing! Glancing around, you suddenly noticed a mound of gristly black hair rising and falling at the other end of the cell. By instinct you could tell it was a wolf, letting your angry fear overtake you, you backed away slowly, snarling and growling softly as it stirred. You really didn't want to be caught in a cell with a wolf, so you frantically looked about you for an escape route. Your gut told you to try and squeeze through the bars, so you tried to hunch down and get over to them without alerting the beast. The harsh hold of iron kept you in your place at the base of your ankle. Snarling at the restraint you turned to try and yank yourself out of it, but stopped at the sight of bright red fur, black stockings and a large bushy tail.
It hit you as the fur slowly stood on end and you wiggled your foot. It was you!!!! Letting out a short, high pitched scream, you frantically tried to figure out what on earth was going on! You were an animal! A beast! A FOX!!! Your mental breakdown was interrupted by a short, "Hey!" from the other side of the room. Your eyes darted immediately towards the wolf who was now standing menacingly at the other end.
In defense, you fluffed your fur to three times it's normal size and hunched over with a snarl and a bark, "Come near me and I'll claw your eyes out!"
To your surprise the wolf just cocked his head to the side with a puzzling look and sat down, "____?"
"How do you know my name?!" You demanded, still in defense mode.
"It's me, Link! Don't you recognize me?" He said and seemed to gain a smile, "Or were you too busy thinking about how to get me back for earlier in the tunnel?"
You gasped, only one person could have said that! "Link! What happened!? Where are we and why are we... I mean..."
"I have no idea, ____! Though if I had to put money on it I'd say it was that black wall. It's did something to us... I could feel it once that thing grabbed me!"
"I'd say you're right on track!" A voice interrupted, neither of them your own. Letting out another sharp bark at the strange presence that appeared between the two of you, your ears laid back and fur stood on end.
"Well, I finally found you!" She stood with great pride in her victory, ignoring the two of you as you snarled at her, "Ooohh, aren't you scary! Eee hee! Are you sure you want to be doing that? Snarling and glaring at me?" Neither Link or you ceased in your defense, but she just shrugged with a smile, "Well that's too bad... I was planning on helping you if you were nice," Both your lips started to cover your fangs, and your ears twitched in mild curiosity.
The creature giggled, "Eee Hee! That's much better! You humans are obedient to a fault aren't you? Oops! But you AREN'T human anymore, are you? You're a beast! Eee Hee!" With built up frustration, Link lashed out at her, forgetting the chain connected to his leg and yanked himself back. She shook her head, "There, there. You be a good boy and calm down. No need to bite!" Rolling her eyes, she created a sparking ball of energy between her hands and aimed it at your chains. Your's immediately broke free, while Link was left with a bit of it still attached, "Eee hee! You look kind of surprised! So! I bet you're wondering, where exactly are we?! Well, I'll make you a deal. If you can get over here, maybe I'll tell you! Eee hee!" She stretched and yawned, awaiting her little game to commence.
You never liked being manipulated, and right now this was exactly what this little imp was doing! And she wasn't even trying to be subtle about it! Letting out an annoyed snarl you were easily able to squeeze through the bars, your limber joints bending in just the right way to let you pass. Link wasn't so lucky. He had to dig to find a broken bit in the bars to shove his muzzle through and wiggle his way out.
Almost immediately as Link shook off the dirt, the imp mounted his back with a giggle. Link was no where near happy about being ridden, and bucked about for a while trying to get her off. You weren't quite sure weather you should intervene and try to pry her off or not, but she seemed to be someone you might need. Link finally got used to it and pouted.
She just sighed, "Hmph! I guess you're not completely stupid after all! Listen, I like you, so I'll get you out of here. But in exchange for my help, you have to do EXACTLY as I say! We clear? Good! Now come on, get moving!"
