"Say, Nate, what's your favorite planet?" Matt asked one night while they gazed at the stars together.
Nate never gave space much thought when he was in school or when he was alone, the question seemed pointless and at the time he only shrugged. The celestial bodies always seemed too far away to consider interesting, even if he had a telescope, and it took great patience to sit there and look up at the sky for more than an hour. Life was busy, it always was, Matt didn't understand Nate's disinterest with planets. This wasn't the first time they'd gazed at the night sky and it certainly wouldn't be the last, but Matt just wanted to ask because it had been nagging at him for the past few days.
"Take a guess." Nate smirked.
"Venus?" Matt guessed.
"Nope!" Nate laughed.
"Uh, Neptune?" Matt asked.
"Heh, not that one either!" Nate teased, snuggling closer to Matt.
Meanwhile, the theorist huffed in annoyance and tried a different tactic. What would get Nate to spill?
"At least give me a hint!" Matt whined, nuzzling into Nate's chest.
"Hm, it's really hot! Like, really hot." Nate chortled.
Matt gave him an unamused look at his inside joke, racking his brain in hopes of finding an answer. Another tactic would be great but what could he do? Nate chuckled as Matt thought, knowing that theorist would never get the right answer at this rate because he was missing the most important planet! Suddenly, he felt light kisses on his neck and collarbone, causing him to flinch in surprise as his boyfriend continued.
"Matt... if you keep doing this..." Nate warned, watching Matt straddle his waist.
"Shush," Matt whispered, slightly lifting up Nate's shirt.
This continued fora few minutes before Matt finally decided to properly kiss Nate, who accepted it roughly and held him tightly. The theorist knew exactly what he was risking by doing this but he wanted answers, not that he minded what would come later.
"Jeez, all that to know my favorite planet!" Nate breathed as they released the kiss.
"Well, had you just told me..." Matt trailed off as Nate sat up.
"Jupiter..." Nate whispered.
Matt could taste his lips on his, softly closing his eyes as he was lowered into the soft grass. His muscles relaxed and he no longer felt the urge to know more, he assumed he wouldn't be able to feel for a day or two after this, and his heart fluttered. Nate could be passionate when he wanted to be, the rest was constant love and puppy dog affection, so convinced that Matt was in a constant need for attention. But Nate also knew that Matt was the most kind person, capable of so many things, and who loved him in return. He was warm, so warm, when Matt was near him. If only he could tell him all of what he felt for him, but there weren't enough words to describe how Matt makes Nate feel.
He'll save that for the proposal.
