As a weapon, Nathan's purpose was to protect his meister. He was prepared for death. His meister, Matthew, was his top priority aside from music. But today was a much different day, the kind of day that made your stomach sink, the end of the world. The Kishin, a demon named Asura, was free from his own skin imprisonment and Matthew had to stop him. The only problem was that Nathan couldn't hear anything Matthew said, there was pain spreading throughout his body. A secret so desperately hidden was unraveling before his partner's eyes, like a black, silk ribbon of truth. Only that silk was draining the life out of Nathan faster than he ever thought possible. He thought he heard his name being called but he hit the ground hard before he could respond, energy draining. First Sean, now him. Only this time it was Asura and not Medusa, and Sean lived to see another day.

"NATHAN!" Matthew had never shouted so much.

An unnaturally large pool of liquid was forming around Nathan as he stayed on the ground, eyes wide open in shock and his skin paler than it usually was. His breathing was shallow as another voice nagged at him. In the back of his mind he could hear his blood snapping at him, telling him he was an idiot, but Nathan couldn't find the strength to care. Before he knew it he was in someone's arms and they wouldn't let go, calling his name softly in an attempt to catch his attention. Another voice laughed and muttered something incoherent, but Nathan found that laughing hurt him so he couldn't laugh along. His eyes finally focused on his distraught partner, large tears trailing down his face as he tried to keep himself from sobbing loudly. Matthew let out choked whimpers as Nathan placed a hand on his cheek, forcing himself to smile.

"You're... Nathan I... I-I'm so sorry!" Matthew stuttered, placing his own hand over Nathan's.
"It's alright, Matty..." Nathan wheezed, watching Matthew's whole body lean forward.

Asura was watching, waiting, Nathan could feel his eyes everywhere. But he knew there was nothing he could do now.

"Matty, I want... I want you to run away... you can't fight him with-without a weapon and," Nathan coughed up black blood before continuing, "I... I'm not fit to be u-used anymore..."
Matthew let out a suppressed scream and buried his face in Nathan's chest, dampening his shirt with tears and causing his weak heart to flutter. Matthew never knew of Nathan's affections and it was only right to tell him, or he'd never know.
"Matty, has anyone... e-ever told you that... you look beautiful?" Nathan closed his eyes, feeling Matthew rise from his chest to look at him. "I love you, okay?"

Before Matthew could respond, something soft wrapped around his ankles and dragged him away from Nathan. Screaming in anger and fear, Matthew was held upside down in front of Kishin Asura, who was wearing a smile of the utmost smugness. He'd never been so entertained by something so much, it actually had him chuckling silently.
"Little Meister Matty seems to have lost his weapon, now what shall he do?" Asura hissed.
The mocking tone he used only fueled the fire in Matthew's soul, causing it to turn from blue to a hot white that seared his chest and coursed through his blood. He eyed Nathan and the pool of black blood, switching his gaze to his hands that were covered in it, and back at Asura as he continued to glare at him playfully. Matthew needed Asura to cut him.

"Think you're so tough? Prove it!" Matthew barked, readying himself.
Asura didn't look fazed, in fact he looked a bit bored. He sighed and sneered at Matthew, raising paper-like tendrils to aim at him.
"Fine. I'll give you the same treatment as your boyfriend." Asura tensed.
Matthew was raised a bit higher into the air, just as the paper-like tendrils shot towards him at lightning speed. He angled himself to the right and stuck out his arm, hissing when his skin was cut badly and red blood oozed from the many injuries. The good thing about black blood was that it never dried up, which gave Matthew plenty of time to force it onto his bloody injuries.

Nathan was still on the floor when he suddenly opened his eyes, feeling a warmth so delicious that his blood surged towards it. He craved it. Needed it. But he only stopped when he heard a blood curdling screech, one that wasn't from him or Matthew.
