"Listen and hear a song the birds are singing, sit down awhile and watch the flowers blooming, a pleasant breeze flows by leaving a trail of dust...
This is your fault, right?"

Nathan opened his eyes when he heard the beautiful voice, he could see the black walls, his own misty breath, and the frost lining every inch of the room. Had he passed out? Surely not. It was so cold that it would've been impossible to even live, yet here he was. He didn't want to speak. His voice was frozen in his throat and his skin was prickled with goosebumps, there was no way he could survive this for much longer.

"Standing in the corridor, who thought we'd be here like this together? On a gorgeous day like this, I ask what is it that you want?"

Nathan couldn't get up. The floor was so cold, his joints rejected any attempt to move. Panic settled and he let out a shuddering breath, soon he'll be dead and he'll never know why he was here or who was singing. The single light in the room flickered and someone stood before him, Nathan's eyes widening. It was him. He had the same black hair, pale skin, except there were purple tear stains trailing down his face. For a few moments he stood there, eyes closed and not saying anything. It wasn't until he opened his eyes that Nathan saw the madness hidden inside them, a crooked smile accompanying the sadistic look. Desperately he wished for the cold to go away so he could move, his skin was sticking to the floor, his nose hurt from inhaling so much cold air.
Natemare stepped closer.

"I believe there was a time, where we could be pals and things were better, eating bad food, enjoying laughs...
Can we go back to that?"

The light flickered again and Natemare leaned even closer to Nathan's face, examining every pore and every beauty spot. The ebony, however, was trying to avoid any eye contact with his doppelgänger. When he felt skin touch skin he flinched and realized that Natemare placed a finger on his cheek, tracing shapes on his face gently as a sign of curiosity. Nathan thought he was finally being nice to him for once, but then his nail dug into his skin and dragged painfully to the left. No doubt, there was blood.
Nathan swallowed and shut his eyes from the stinging pain, it wasn't as bad as he expected but it still hurt. Then he felt something warm and wet slide across the wound.

"If you're in there listening, kid, just reset the timeline and let's please forget all of this."

Natemare made a growling noise as he pulled away, smirking with a bit of blood at the corner of his mouth. Nathan felt himself shaking with anger and fear, his arm was painfully numb and he desperately needed to move it somehow. Unsticking himself from the floor slowly, Nathan moved his arm and weakly shielded himself from Natemare's wrath.
But his counterpart just stared at him.
Hungrily.

"Even after what you did he believed in you... 'till the end... looking at your face right now, that expression tells me I can't afford not to care anymore."

Nathan sucked in a breath and pushed himself into a sitting position, shivering and Heath chattering from the cold. The black walls were lined with white ice. Natemare sat unmoving in front of him with a hungry look, taunting him with eyes yearning for blood but patient with his actions. Nathan hated that look.
Without warning Nathan punched Natemare straight in the face, causing a disgruntled noise but no retaliation. His nose was bleeding, the red substance leaking into his mouth and staining his teeth.

"Turn this path around, wipe your dirty hands clean... GIVE UP!"

Nathan let out angry huffs as Natemare continued to stare at him. Finally, he spoke.
"Don't you want to see Matthew?"
Nathan growled and tackled the dark aura to the floor, hands threatening to strangle the life out of him when the light flickered again. Natemare was gone.

"Please don't, come back...
If you're my friend...
Please..."

Nathan felt cold tears slide down his face at the mention of his friend and crush, they stuck to his cheeks and caused more numbing pain than anything in the world.
"Nathan."
He looked up and found Matthew's counterpart, AntiMatter.
The cold expression he wore was enough to make more ice cover the walls, Nathan only cried more when he saw the green and black codes on parts of his body. It wasn't who he was looking for.

"Listen and hear a song the birds are singing, sit down awhile and watch the flowers blooming, a pleasant breeze flows by leaving a trail of-
How could you have done this?"

"Stand up and find him. Now."
Matter had no sympathy for either of them, but in order for him to exist then Matthew had to be found.
"You are running out of time, boy!"
Nathan sniffled and put his head down, staring at his hands which were on the icy floor. His tears leaked onto the back of his hands and they were surprisingly warm. The ebony was about to explain that there was no door, but when he looked up Matter was gone.
And there was an open corridor in his place.

"Is there still a glimmer of hope?
Will you choose to do the right thing?"

Without missing a beat, Nathan charged down the corridor with new determination. The warmth slowly returned to his skin, he could move freely, but finding his beloved was another thing entirely. He could still hear the singing, he never stopped listening to it, and the closer he got the louder it became. The large pauses didn't help.
But he was getting closer.

"Please now, bud...
If you're there...
Have a change of heart."

A bright red door stood at the end of the corridor and the voice echoed, as if someone was right behind it. The voice was unmistakable.
"Matthew!"
There was no answer. Just more singing.

"Listen and hear a song the birds are singing, sit down awhile and watch the flowers blooming, what a nice day..."

Nathan threw open the door and let out a choked sob, Matthew was in the same condition as he was. Only he was still asleep. He was breathing.
