Down at the station everyone was really busy with the case. Gus and I made our way to Lassie's office. "Lassie! We are back!" He acts like he is happy to see us. "Great, so what did you find?" I think of something smart to say. "Umm-" Gus interrupts. "Nothing yet, but we are working hard and I assure you we will crack this thing." He sits down at his desk. "Then why did you want to see me?" I gaze into his eyes. "Just wanted to see your beautiful face again." He lets out a fake laugh. "Spencer be serious! We need to get to the bottom of this with or without your help but I was hoping you could give us some insight on this." I nod. "Not to worry Lassie, not to worry. Like Gus said we will crack this in no time. Now Gus if you would kindly give me a moment with Mr. Lassie it would be appreciated." He walks out. "Better not talk smack about me!"
As he leaves I move closer to his desk smelling the sweet aroma of his cologne. "So you think what I said was funny?" He glares at me. "What? Spencer could you please move away from my desk! God knows you are an accident prone." I scoot a bit but not too far. "I wasn't lying I really did want to see your beautiful face again." He gets out of his chair. "Stop playing games Shawn and get out of my office!" I bite my lip and walk out slowly. "As you wish........sir."
I close the door behind me. I could no longer deny my feelings for him. Gus walked up to me. "What did you have to talk to him about?" I shrug. "Nothing important just stuff about the case." He blinks. "And you couldn't do that with me in there?" I make my way over to Jules's office. "Some things are better talked about alone Gus." I walk into her office. "Jules! How is the case going?" She sighs. "Well we found a piece of cloth at the crime scene but that's really all we have" She hands me a plastic evidence bag with a light blue piece of fabric with a brown stain. "Have you ran it for fingerprints." She nods. "Yeah nothing was found." I examine the fabric. It looked very familiar. I suddenly remembered Lassie wearing the same colored tie the other day. I laugh at the thought of me thinking it could possibly be him. Gus looked at me like I was crazy. "What are you laughing at?" I shake my head. "Nothing." I walk out without another word still thinking about the fabric. What if it was Lassie's? I smack myself in the face for even thinking that. Of course it wasn't his why would it be. There are millions of guys who wear light blue ties- it suddenly hit me. The stain! It was coffee! That's why the color looked familiar! Lassie was wearing a light blue tie when I ran into him spilling my coffee on him! It still had to be a coincidence. There wasn't enough proof and plus Lassie was a detective he would never even think about killing a fly. I brushed the thought aside. This was Lassie we were talking about. Even if he tried he could never get away with murder. He was perfect. "Gus want to go to the park? Recheck the scene of the crime?" He nods. "Sure Shawn, I have nothing better to do." I nod. "Let's get going then." I think about telling Gus about the silly coincidence but decide not to. I had to keep my mind of Lassie and talking about him wouldn't help matters.
At the park
I parked the car and followed Gus to the exact spot they found the body. "Look around Gus let's see what we can find." He nods. "Okay but the cops already did a full sweep of this place." I start looking around "yeah but we always manage to find something new." I look hard and notice blood on a nearby tree. Maybe it was from the body maybe from the murderer. I noticed the shape of the blood. It had to be from the murderer it was in a shape only a hand could make. "Gus! Look at this blood stain on this tree. It's in the exact shape of a handprint. It has to be from the murderer. It might me the blood from the victim or maybe he hurt himself or something." Gus nodded. "I hate to be the breaker of bad news Shawn but other than the fabric juliet found and that blood stain there isn't much else to go on." I bite the inside of my lip. "You're right let's just keep looking for clues maybe we will-" My phone started ringing. It was Jules. "Jules?"
"Shawn! You and Gus have to get down here right now! There has been another murder, similar to the last one."
"What's the adress?" She gave me the address as I got into the car. "We will be there." I hung up and filled Gus in as I drove there. Jules had said the murders were similar. If they were it meant it that the murders were probably committed by the same person. Hopefully there would be more clues so I could actually start solving both cases. When we arrived they were already taking the body away. I parked the car and ran out to meet up with Jules. "Dismembered?" She nods. "Yes. Just like the last one." I watch as Lassie walks up to us. "Any leads?" Jules shrugs. "Nothing yet it seems like." Lassie mumbles something under his breath. I notice a small cut on his palm. No! It has to be a coincidence just like the tie. "Umm Lassie boy, what happened to your hand?" He glares at me. "Paper cut, what's it to you." I shake my head. "Nothing just looking out for your well being." He scoffs. "Focus on the case Spencer!" I stare at his cut. He could have easily made that blood stain. Wait! What was I saying!? I couldn't actually believe it was him. I watched him while he was talking to jules. The tie and cut on his hand were just coincidences and nothing more. Lassie broke my thoughts. "Shawn! What do you feel? Are you getting any of your psychic feelings?" I put my fingers on my head. "I-I see a girl, she is feeling scared.....no! More like terrified! She feels trapped.......she feels the end being near....." Lassie looks at me confused. "The victim?" I nod. "Yes." He nods. "Okay so she was scared. What else do you see?" I gaze into his eyes. "Nothing....except....wait! I'm getting something." Jules gasps. "What? What do you see?" I concentrate. "I see myself.....with a man. A tall man with.....woah his eyes are beatiful......it's you Lassie! We are in a restaurant having lunch." Lassie groans. "Spencer! Be serious!" I wink at him. "So is that a yes to lunch?" Gus looks at me confused. He nods. "Fine but only to talk work stuff." I smile. "Come on let's go then." He walks over to his car. Gus pulls me aside. "What are you doing?" I look over at Lassie who is waiting for me in the car. "We are going to bounce of ideas see if maybe we can help each other out and maybe even get a lead on this case." He nods. "Alright Shawn but the way you look at him is weird. Reminds me of a lion stalking is prey." I chuckle. "Gus, what the hell kind of analogy was that?" He walks towards Jules. "I just call it how I see it. I'm going to hang here with Juliet see if I can be of any help. I'll see you later, good luck on your date." My heart jumped rapidly. "It's not a date!" I get into the car. "Shall we go Lassie boy?" He starts the car without a word. I try not to stare but it's really hard. He catches my gaze. "What are you staring at?!" I smirk. "Nothing." I look out the window. I want to make a move but decide not to. Not now at least. I had to wait for the perfect moment.
