Next morning

I got no sleep last night. I quickly walked out the door wondering what I was going to do about all this. I had to keep it a secret, for our love. Plus he promised he would not do it anymore so I just had to take it to the grave. I wouldn't even tell Gus, even though I tell him everything. I knew deep down Lassie was a good guy and a good detective. He just had to get over those evil urges that lingered in his mind. He wasn't a bad guy he just had a little darkness inside. We all have demons right? I was going to help him because I loved him and even though what he was doing scared me. I had to be strong for both of us. I got in my car and drove to the station. I told Gus to meet me there.

He was already there when I arrived. "Hey Shawn did you find Lassiter last night?" I couldn't lie. "Yeah turns out he was alright Gus. He was working on the case like the rest of us." He sighed. "That's good but where was he. We looked everywhere." I thought of a lie. "He was out of town getting case files." Just then Jules walked up to us. "Thank God he is okay! I was so worried." I nodded. "So how are we doing on the case?" She frowned. "Nothing new, same evidence and yet we have no leads." I suppressed the urge to tell her the truth. "We will get something just don't loose hope. We will catch this son of a bitch!" She nodded. "Yeah and when we do I want to be the one to snap the handcuffs on that bastard!" I smiled. "I hope we catch him soon before he claims more lives." I suddenly pictured Lassie smiling evilly as he held his knife over his victim. I quickly shook the thought aside. I wanted to cry, scream and puke. I had to see him. I started walking towards the door. Gus stopped me. "Shawn, where are you going?" I made up an excuse. "I left something at my dad's I have to go get it I will be back." I ran towards the door before he decided to come with me. I got in my car and drove to Lassie's apartment hoping he would be there. I noticed his car was in the parking lot so that meant he was home. I parked the car and took a huge deep breath before knocking on the door. I was so nervous.

He opened the door and somehow looked different. His eyes looked menacing, like the eyes of a killer and his hair was all messed up like he just got out of bed. Which he probably did. My heart was beating rapidly when he let me in. "Lassie how are you?" I watched him carefully. He walked to the living room. "Good Spencer, and you? How did you sleep?" I gulped. "I didn't." He walked towards me and it took every muscle I had for me not to run off in fear. "Why? Is it because of last night?" I nodded. "Yes......" I didn't realize I was crying until he wiped a tear off my cheek. "You have nothing to fear. Shawn what happened yesterday..........I will never meant for you to see it. I love you and I didn't want you to see that part of me. I'm a monster." I worked up the courage to kiss him. It's just Lassie......don't be afraid Shawn.......it's the same guy you fell in love with. "You are not a monster Lassie. I love you too and I will help you get through this. Even though it scares me." He leaned closer and whispered in my ear. "Thank you. I will fight my urges........for you Shawn." I smile through my tears. "I love you......" I then noticed a cut across his arm in the shape of an L. "What is this?" He pulled away. "Nothing.......just a scratch." It looked kind of deep. "Lassie you can tell me. What happened?" He glared at me. "I said it's nothing!" His voice was a deep demonic growl. I backed away. He moved closer. "Sorry I didn't mean to yell......its nothing really." I couldn't ignore the fact that it was in the shape of an L for Lassiter. Had he cut himself? No he wouldn't do that. "I think we should go back to the station. They need you there." He goes up to his room and grabs a knife. "I have things to do." My eyes travel down to his hand. "No! You said you wouldn't kill! You promised!" He walked towards me and I could hear my heart pumping rapidly. He snickered. "I'm not! I have to get rid of the murder weapon! Want to help me?" I sighed with relief. "Yeah sure." He smiled kissing me roughly moving the hand that had the knife towards me. I tensed up but relaxed after he put his arms around my neck kissing me harder. I kissed back but was still cautious over the knife. "Let's go. Then we can go back to the station."

We went outside and he threw his knife on the backseat as he turned on the car and started driving. He drove us to the edge of town in a very sketchy part of the city. I got a little nervous but convinced myself that Lassie would never try to hurt me.......ever. He loved me. He got out of the car and swiftly grabbed the knife. "Get out!" He growled at me. My heart dropped, his voice was so menacing. It scared me he sounded almost like a demon. "Y-Y-Y-Yeah." I got out quickly and followed him to an alley. Shawn......its okay nothing is going to happen he is just going to throw away his knife. He will not hurt you. I repeated those words in my mind but somehow I was still terrified. I followed him as he threw the knife into the nearest dumpster. "There I got rid of it. Cops will never find it!" I looked at him.....Lassie, my love....the Chopper. "Lassie can we go now?" He turned to me and pinned me against the wall. "You want to go so soon?" I looked into his eyes my heart beating abnormally. "Lassie you are scaring me." He backed away. "Sorry." I looked at him. "Why are you acting this way?" He walked back to the car. "I don't know what you mean?" I hopped into the car. "You are acting like.........a cold blooded, heartless killer." He started the car not looking at me once. "Sorry.....Shawn its just........the rush from my previous kill........that's why sometimes I'm mad and used to yell at you a lot." I remembered those times. "I thought you just didn't like me back then." He smiled. "No Shawn I always loved you.......always." He drove to the station. He still scared me in some ways but I loved him and soon everything will be normal. I hope, because Lassie wasn't a cold blooded murderer. He wasn't insane. Lassie was an amazing, hardworking, loyal and smart man and I loved him.
