(Eragon POV)
"Any luck Saphira" I asked hopefully.
"Unfortunately the trees are too thick for even a dragon to see through," she said disappointedly.

"Lets head back to camp and get some rest," I said exhaustedly.

"I agree we have been searching for at least 24 hours I need to rest my wings" she said sounding about as exhausted as I was.

"Here you are starting to sound bad. We can't have you falling asleep in the air." I said as I transferred her some energy for the flight back to camp.

We flew, passing the river and coming across into the camp and landing at our tent. When I walked in Arya was already asleep. She was beautiful laying there, but before I could say anything a large red area appeared around us and closed us In. Shadows began appearing everywhere.

"What is going on? I can't get in," Saphira asked in a panic.

"The shadows are attacking. I am going to wake up the camp, then we will figure out how to defend ourselves."

"You and Firnen need to find Evander. he is our best shot at survival."

(Evander Pov)
I had just started packing and preparing to leave when a very loud explosion like sound came from the direction of the camp. A red dome began to form over the camp.

"What was that?" I asked Luceane.

" looks like the shadows are attacking."

I will meet you at the edge of the lake. You will find a single tent there," I said, as I ran as fast as I could towards the camp. The little dragon in my backpack voiced his unhappiness with the bumpy ride by letting out a small whine in my ear. I barely even noticed. I was too focused on running. That didn't last long because a large blue dragon landed in front of me in the first clearing I reached. She pressed lightly against the barriers in my mind, trying to get me to lower them. I allowed her to speak to me.

"Hurry! Get on! Eragon and the rest of the elves are in danger," She said in a panic. I leaped as far as I  could but I only managed to get to the scales on her back. I pulled myself up from there. When I reached her saddle I said "Go! "

She took off the ground as I stood on her saddle. She picked up speed and I had to use magic to be sure that I wouldn't fall off and hurt myself. With how fast she was flying the trees where just a blur. We reached the edge of the forest in only a few moments. It would take days for me to reach there by running.  From the edge of the forest it only took a moment to reach the edge of the camp. She sat down right at the barrier. I leaped off and tried to run through the barrier. The barrier repelled me by sending me flying backwards a few meters.

"Stay back I am going to try something!"

I messaged Saphira with my mind. I drew my swords and used the same ice magic as before on them again.  I put as much energy as I could into the swords and slashed with both of them horizontally the barrier broke and I released the magic. The magic took way too much energy and I fell to my knees. The dragons both rushed into the town and joined the fight. I took all the stored energy from the pommel of my swords and stood. I charged into the battle, swords swinging. First I came to an elf who had been cornered by two Shadows and I stabbed both Shadows in the back. The elf looked at me in surprise as I tossed him my backpack and said "I need you to keep this safe as I confront the incoming forces. If you can't then take it to Eragon."

I ran away as the elf stood there with a surprised expression on his face. I ran through the camp until I came to the other edge where I saw the entire Shadows force. Now that I had destroyed the barrier they couldn't just appear out of thin air. I ran towards the force marching towards the camp and used the same spell on my swords as before, using a little energy as I could. I approached the incoming force and charged into the centre of their formation. I guessed there were about one hundred Shadows there, marching five in a row. I reached the first line and dodged a spear before I could get into range so that I could hit them. I slashed the first one across the chest with my left sword. Moving forward I slashed the next with my right and the next with my left. While they where charging it was difficult for them to approach me in a group until they saw me coming and organized themselves. After I reached the fourth row they figured out my plan and spread out so they could attack me from all sides. I dodged a sword coming down at my shoulder and stabbed forward, killing the one in front of me. Another quickly came forward and took the empty place. I turned and killed the one to my right and then quickly turned and sliced one that was closing in on me from my back. I leaped back over top of the rest of the Shadows and prepared to repel another attack. But as I prepared to charge the Shadows a loud shrike came from the back of their formation as a Shadow that was slightly larger began to walk toward me. Their entire force stepped back, creating a circle large enough for a dragon to land. The large Shadow drew a sword from his back and stepped into a stance. I prepared and entered my solo fighting stance, prepared to fight. He smiled and showed his yellow teeth before letting out a loud gut wrenching screech.
