A Week Later...
Reed.
"Ms. Deanda Reed." A woman greets me as I exit the car. I smile and tug at the end of my dress, putting my bag in the crook of my arm.
"Hi. Dr. Ross right?" I question. She stands to her feet as we shake hands. We begin a journey down a stone garden path, the bright green leaves and flowers decors the view. My mother and I had finally found a women's treatment group, with one of the top specialist. We read some reviews on women that have been through a lot.
Most of them have said that therapy with Ross was life changing. You learn a lot from where these people come from and how similar your problems are to others. They also said that Dr. Ross is a wonderful psychologist. When you feel like giving up, she won't give up on you. She'll push you to your breaking point has been reached and I believe that's what I need.
I'm holding on to this barricade and it's time I let go and move forward. Let the past be the past. I believe Dr. Ross can help fulfill that. Her house is located out in Cali. I was skeptical of coming out here at first, because I didn't want to leave Chicago. Then I realized that's I'm not doing this for myself only, I'm doing this for my family. For my husband and I.
"So you keep holding on to the past huh?" Ross questions. I sigh and nod as I look over at the horses that gallops the wide acres.
"Yes and I want to let it go." I admit.
"Well you came to the right place. Here at Women's Ranch you'll be living with seven other women. They either have the same problems as you, or different ones but you all have one thing in common. That's letting go. While here you'll experience healing, acceptance and releasing from the past. You want to let go, but something is pulling you back. We'll get to the root of that problem." I nod and sigh as we continue the long journey to the estate. It's a good thing I wore my sneakers.
"While we're taking this journey, why don't you tell me about yourself and I'll give you a little of my background." Ross says. I clear my throat and nod while turning my hat from the back, to the front. The sun is beaming, not to mention its hot as hell out here.
"As you know my name is Deanda Bridges, but during media and business I go by my maiden name Reed. At 25 years old I'm a manager, business woman and journalist. " I explain.
"You're married to Darius Bridges correct?"
Smiling, I respond." Yes. We've been together for a year and married for eight months."
"Ok. Well my name is Joyce Ross and I have four degrees in psychiatry. My organization started when I was 25 years old, fresh out of college. I always wanted to help women who have gone through hardships in their life. Whether if it's from the war, domestic violence or a close death that has happened. I'm here for it all. Some things might be hard to speak on, but it's course of healing. You'll be here for a month, getting to know the other roommates and learning how to maneuver around the different space. While here, you are accountable for your actions. No he, she, it or they will be taken. You, understand?" I nod as we finally approach the estate.
It was a long walk, but needed. I've been on bed rest for a while now, I'm still going through my notions and sickness. Hopefully while here my nerves will calm and I can move forward.
"Ladies! Your new roommate is here!" Ross calls up the steps. The women all come down the staircase and greet me. Some I know I'll fall out with, but I'm not here for that. As long as they stay to their self, I'll stay to mine. Jarvis enters with my bags and I thank him, making my way to my room. I sit my luggage on my bed and sigh. I have a room to myself which is good.
