A Week Later...
Reed.
Vacation in Trinidad last week was fun, but it's back to work. Darius went on to do his thing and I'm doing mine. I have a campaign to discuss, talking to women about domestic violence. I had already spoke to the crowd and answered some tough questions. It was clear to me that a lot of people wanted to be educated on this and what to do in this situation. It's horrifying and you're scared to leave but you have too. Run when you can and then call for help. Of course I didn't do it that way, and didn't have to. My situation was different from everyone else's.
I walk through the crowd and talk to individuals, signing autographs and converse with the reporters. I also took pictures with some fans for the new website and social media pages we just made today. The whole point of this campaign is to raise money for a shelter. A home for women in dyer need of shelter for themselves and families. A lot of people had ran away with no where to go because of neglect from biological families. So, it's time to give these lost souls hope and let them know they're not alone. There will be specialist that are going to help these young women to find themselves and get back on their feet. Whether its finding jobs, going back to school to get their college degrees or GED's. Also to find themselves from the verbal abuse they've endured.
My mom is a victim of that. She wanted to attend college but my father stripped her of that. Called her out her name and how she'll never amount to anything. He also told her she couldn't work or have a social life. She's here with me today to talk about that, in fact she's going to have a book about it. Both our lives had went in similar directions, but we're both very strong women. I got my mother a deal, so she can quit the rust bucket of a waitress job and make some real money. My mother has worked at the restaurant since before I was born. It's time my mother retires.
"Ok you guys, please make sure you take time to go over to the hors d'oeuvre table. It's a lot of left over food you can take home if you like. We're taking donations in the back for the building project for my investors. If you have any questions about it Deanda, Shay and myself are welcome to answer them. We'll be sitting right at the back table, thank you." My manager Stella says through the mic.
People begin to go in different directions as I hold my mother's hand an guide her to the table. A gentleman pulls out a chair for both my mother and I, my manager sitting right beside me. We begin to talk to some investors, telling them our plan and goals. We don't know if we'll get big names to take the company and start the project. It will take weeks maybe, but we're sure someone will want to work with us.
After the meeting, I give our guest goody bags. It's packed with information about the business, a t-shirt, key chains, candy and other things. Just thank you bags for people taking time out of their day to drop by and see what we're all about. I stand by the door and hand out the bags, smiling and thanking the guest.
I have to get to Darius' Vogue Magazine interview. It's for both Darius and I about our marriage, what we're doing and what's next for the both of us. He's in Cali right now talking with Dr. Dre about his endorsement for next month commercial. After that, we have to head straight to New York for the photoshoot and interview.
"Deanda." A voice calls. I turn my attention to the known person, knitting my eyebrows together. It's my ex Angel. One of the men in my life who was nothing but good to me, just like Darius. However because of my attitude, and because he was a nice guy. I broke up with him. I honestly thought I'd never see him again, or that he never wanted to talk to me. He was devastated when we broke up because he loved me dearly. And I loved him, but he didn't deserve what I did to him. Neither does Darius but he's still sticking by me.
